On Thursday, November 28, Joanna shared a video on Instagram showcasing her and her eldest daughter, Ella, embracing the festive spirit together in the kitchen. Captured by Joanna, 46, the video features 18-year-old Ella tidying up as they work on their baking project.

With friends expected later that day, Gaines needed to ensure her home appeared tidy when her guests arrived. That meant all the ingredients she had prepped the previous night had to be stowed away.

That’s when she decided to share a helpful holiday tip. “Here are some tips and tricks if you are hosting this holiday season,” she wrote in her video caption.

“(I) had to hide everything,” Gaines confessed. “Let me show you how I did it.”

As the camera followed, she moved towards the dishwasher.

“Previously, there were ingredients on that,” she indicated her kitchen island, “there were ingredients on that,” pointing to a distant counter, “and even some on the floor.”

“But now,” Gaines continued as she opened the dishwasher, “thanks to modern technology, it’s a dual-purpose dishwasher.”

Inside the dishwasher, she showcased all the ingredients that had once cluttered her kitchen.

But that wasn’t all.

Gaines had also filled her utensil drawers and the area under her sink.

“No one will know,” she assured her audience.

Her followers on Instagram appreciated her candidness.

“I laughed so hard when you opened that dishwasher!” one follower commented.

“You always remind us why we admire you, not just for your incredible taste,” another added.

“So you’re just like us? You are amazing!” read another response.

Soon, others began sharing their own clever hiding spots.

“I once hid dirty dishes in my bathtub before guests arrived. Thankfully, they weren’t staying overnight,” someone shared.

“I’ve done this too,” another follower chimed in. “Put a ton of stuff in my car trunk before company came over.”

“This is hilarious and so relatable! When our house was on the market, I had to unexpectedly show it, so I hid things in the dishwasher and dryer.”
