Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber Share Their Thoughts on the ‘Worst’ Episode of ‘Full House’

Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber are reminiscing about their time on “Full House” and sharing some insider tidbits about the cherished sitcom, including which episode they liked the least.

In 2023, Sweetin and Barber launched a rewatch podcast titled “How Rude, Tanneritos!” The title nods to the memorable lines spoken by their characters, Stephanie Tanner and Kimmy Gibbler, throughout the series. For almost two years, the former child stars have been revisiting and discussing episodes from the show, which aired for eight seasons from 1987 to 1995.

During a special “minisode” on March 21, the pair participated in a game suggested by fans on Reddit. Devoted “Full House” fans asked Sweetin and Barber to rank the episodes from Season 1, identifying the best, worst, funniest, and more. They shared a clip of their discussion on Instagram.

To kickstart the superlative challenge, the actresses revealed their least favorite episode, and they quickly concurred on one that stood out for all the wrong reasons.

In unison, they counted to three and declared that “Sea Cruise,” the fifth episode of Season 1, was their least favorite.

The plot follows Stephanie, Michelle (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen), and D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure) visiting their grandmother, while Danny (Bob Saget), Joey (Dave Coulier), and Jesse (John Stamos) embark on a fishing yacht outing for some male bonding.

Barber criticized “Sea Cruise” as “easily the worst episode” of the entire series.

“I don’t think there’s been a worse episode since ‘Sea Cruise,’” she asserted. “I believe ‘Sea Cruise’ takes the cake for all seasons.”

Sweetin echoed her sentiment, mentioning that the “bizarre Michelle dream sequence” from “Bye, Bye Birdie” in Season 3 “was also unsettling.” She also pointed out her distaste for the episodes featuring Howie Anderson, Becky’s (Lori Loughlin) nephew.

“Still, nothing compares to ‘Sea Cruise,’” Sweetin admitted.

Next, they addressed their favorite episode of Season 1, unanimously agreeing that the pilot remains their top pick.

“I’m going to boldly say that the ‘Full House’ pilot is one of the best in sitcom history,” Barber stated, prompting a gasp from Sweetin. “It encompasses everything. You immediately understand who the characters are, their personalities, their relationships, and the challenges they face. It has depth, humor, and has truly stood the test of time for the past 37 years.”

Sweetin responded, “You’re absolutely right. I’ll concede that.” She noted that while there might be episodes with stronger plots, the pilot, titled “Our Very First Show,” is unforgettable.

“I can recall the pilot so vividly, and I know our Fanneritos can as well. We remember what we were wearing and what we were doing… That episode is such a cherished memory, a remarkable episode,” Sweetin reminisced.

Barber also named “Our Very First Show” as the funniest episode. Sweetin added “Sisterly Love” and “A Pox in Our House” from Season 1 as additional comical gems.

After assigning other superlatives, Sweetin and Barber informed their audience that they would continue to share their personal best and worst episodes for each season.
