Joe Jonas Discusses Parenting His Two Daughters with Sophie Turner

Joe Jonas recently shared his thoughts on parenting his two daughters with ex-wife Sophie Turner.

“I’ve become more acquainted with [KPop] Demon Hunters than I ever thought possible,” Joe, 36, joked during a People interview alongside his brothers, Nick and Kevin Jonas, published on December 3.

He continued, “I’ve learned so much about fatherhood from my little girls. They don’t follow any schedule. They’re not the type to say, ‘Can you hurry up?’ Being present with them and acting like phones and time don’t exist is what matters most.”

Joe expressed his desire for his daughters to enjoy their childhood for as long as possible, emphasizing the importance of open communication with both him and Turner.

The couple was married for four years before announcing their split in September 2023. They welcomed daughter Willa in 2020, followed by another baby girl in 2022, […]

“[I hope] that they feel comfortable discussing anything with me and their mom. I want them to feel safe and at home with us. Ideally, I’d love for them to see me as a friend they can talk to,” he stated.

Joe and Turner began their relationship in 2016, and they married in 2019. Following four years of marriage, Joe filed for divorce in September 2023.

They issued a joint statement via Instagram at the time, saying, “After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are various speculative narratives regarding this, but truly, this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope everyone can respect our wishes for privacy concerning us and our children.”

Their divorce concluded a year later, amid an international custody battle over passports, given Joe’s residence in the U.S. and Sophie’s roots in the U.K.

During his conversation with People, Joe expressed his hope that his daughters inherit his “kindness and understanding and the ability to see the best in others.”

Conversely, Joe admitted, “If they’re going to consider a career in music or the entertainment industry, I’d prefer they wait a few years.”

All three Jonas brothers—Joe, 36, Kevin, 38, and Nick, 33—are fathers to daughters. (Kevin shares Alena, 11, and Valentina, 9, with his wife of 16 years, Danielle Jonas, while Nick and his wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas have a daughter, Malti, 3.)

Kevin concurred with Joe on the importance of “putting the phone down and being present,” while Nick mentioned he is in the phase of parenting filled with endless questions.

“I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge about princesses. It’s incredible to be in the ‘why’ phase of parenting, where everything prompts a question. It forces you to reflect more deeply as an adult,” he told People.

The Jonas Brothers are currently on their JONAS20 tour following the release of their seventh album, Greetings From Your Hometown, in August. Their first holiday film, A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, is now available for streaming on Disney+. In this film, Kevin and Nick’s daughters play themselves, but it’s uncertain if the two blonde girls representing Joe’s children are actual daughters or actors.

“Creating a holiday film has been a bucket list item for us,” Joe shared with People. “We debated whether to focus solely on humor or explore personal elements. It’s a bit tricky when portraying versions of ourselves.”
