JoJo Siwa Opens Up About the Start of Her Romance with Chris Hughes
JoJo Siwa has opened up about her exciting new relationship with Celebrity Big Brother UK castmate Chris Hughes.
“It’s a beautiful journey,” Siwa, 22, stated on the Friday, June 6 episode of the “Rosebud With Gyles Brandreth” podcast. “I can’t believe the universe aligned for Chris to enter my life.”
Siwa and Hughes, 32, first crossed paths on the U.K. reality show in April and quickly developed a close connection within the Big Brother house. She remarked at the time, “I wasn’t seeking to fall for him. He wasn’t looking to fall for me. We just enjoyed each other’s company.”
“We shared a lot of laughs. Whenever one of us felt down, the other was there to lift them up,” she added.
It wasn’t until after she exited the Big Brother house and ended her previous relationship with Kath Ebbs that Siwa recognized her feelings for Hughes had grown beyond friendship.
Reflecting on her exit from the show, she mentioned, “I came to several realizations about my life … identifying things I was unhappy with and situations that I accepted which I shouldn’t have.”
Siwa shared that “over time, I realized I developed feelings for Christopher that I never intended to, but they were undeniable.”
Happily, Hughes reciprocated these feelings and the couple recently made their relationship public.
“The word serendipity has become our favorite,” Siwa disclosed to host Gyles Brandreth. “If you look up its definition, it means discovering love when you least expect it.”
Siwa mentioned that she and Hughes stumbled upon their favorite word while watching the U.K. version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
“The answer to the winning question was serendipity. Someone looked at Hughes and asked, ‘Do you know what serendipity is? It’s literally you and JoJo.’ We Googled it and were both amazed because it was bizarre that this was the million-dollar question and perfectly described our situation.”
The Dance Moms alum officially confirmed her relationship with Hughes during a Monday, June 2 interview, following Hughes posting a selfie of them in bed together the day before.
“It’s not platonic anymore; it’s been a wonderful evolution, a lovely connection, and I’m completely head over heels for him, and he feels the same way,” Siwa said in an interview with The Guardian published on Monday, June 2.
