Jonathan Van Ness Admits He Has a Crush on Emma Stone’s Fresh Pixie Cut
Even Jonathan Van Ness experiences his own fangirl moments.
“I’ve really got a crush on Emma Stone’s new haircut,” the Queer Eye star shared with Us when asked about his celebrity crush in the latest edition of Us Weekly as part of our “Just Like Us” feature. “It’s fantastic. I can’t get enough of it.”
Stone, 36, showcased her new look at the 2025 Golden Globes in January, flaunting her pixie cut on the red carpet. The actress’ stylist and OLAPLEX Global Ambassador Tracey Cunningham likened the style to “Mia Farrow,” adding, “It’s incredibly short, and she’ll be getting it cut even shorter soon.”
As the grooming expert on Queer Eye — and the founder of his own hair care brand, JVN Hair — Van Ness, 37, has a deep understanding of hair. He recently underwent a transformation of his own.
“I was in the mood for a change 💅🏻,” he posted on Instagram on February 6, revealing a lighter hair shade. “It’s been ages since I’ve had my hair colored — since around 2011?”
Beyond admiring celebrity hairstyles, hosting a podcast, and appearing on Queer Eye, Van Ness stays occupied doing stand-up comedy — including a gig at the Lil Rhody Laugh Riot comedy festival on March 29 in Providence, Rhode Island, among comedy giants like Kevin Hart and Leslie Jones.
“I adore the art of [stand-up],” Van Ness told Us. “It’s exhilarating to just have a microphone and your set, aiming to make people laugh. It’s one of the oldest forms of art.”
He added: “I’m truly honored that people want to attend my shows and hear what I have to share. … I feel the most alive and authentic when I’m on stage.”
While we’re eager about his comedy performance, Us was interested in learning about the Queer Eye star’s life at home with his husband, Mark Peacock. We put him through a quick Q&A — keep reading to discover how Van Ness is just like Us:
Us: What was the last thing you ordered online?
Jonathan: A Diptyque candle. Total indulgence. I’m obsessed. You only purchase it online if you’re sure of the scent you like — but we tend to stick to what we know.
Us: What is one bad habit you’re working to change?
Jonathan: Scrolling for way too long. That [TikTok] algorithm is extremely cunning. It really pulls me in.
Us: What was the last thing you waited in line for?
Jonathan: TSA. I’m constantly in airport lines, it feels like, all the time.
Us: What was the last thing you streamed?
Jonathan: Probably the worst movie I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe I endured it for so long. The Land of Bad on Netflix. A bit tough to watch. Those Netflix flicks always draw me in.
Us: When did you last do laundry?
Jonathan: It’s been a while.
Us: Who was the last person you texted?
Jonathan: My endorsements agent. I messaged her, “Butt dialed for the second time 😂,” because I had called her once on purpose, but then accidentally dialed again, and I didn’t want her to think I was going crazy with repeat calls.
Us: What are the last few songs you’ve streamed on Spotify or Apple Music?
Jonathan: Definitely the Wicked soundtrack on repeat. That’s what I want to listen to all the time. I’m obsessed with “Dancing Through Life,” love “No One Mourns the Wicked,” and of course, “Defying Gravity,” but “I’m Not That Girl” is probably my all-time favorite. I also really enjoy “What Is This Feeling?”
Us: Do you have a secret celebrity crush?
Jonathan: I feel like my crushes are pretty well-known. I really adore Emma Stone’s new haircut. It’s amazing. I can’t get enough of it.
Us: What’s the last piece of celebrity gossip you shared?
Jonathan: There’s a lot of celebrity gossip that isn’t accurate, so I prefer to stay out of others’ affairs. … But [U.S. Figure Skating Champion] Amber Glenn is absolutely killing it right now. She just claimed her second U.S. national championship. I’m always tuned into the figure skating scene. And the Australian Open! Queen Madison Keys and Danielle Collins. I was totally supportive when she told the crowd to f— off. I adore Danielle Collins. We follow each other on Instagram, not trying to drop names. I was super into that.
Us: Who was the last celebrity you asked for a selfie with?
Jonathan: Catherine O’Hara. She was incredibly nice.
Us: What time do you wake up in the morning? How many hours of sleep do you need?
Jonathan: I really require seven to eight hours, and I typically wake up between 5:45 a.m. and 6:45 a.m.
Us: What trend are you most tired of at the moment?
Jonathan: TikTok listicles. “Three ways to blah, blah, blah.” I understand the appeal and I create them myself, but I wish people had the patience to engage with more than just a listicle. But we do love a catchy hook.
Us: What’s something you do that annoys your partner?
Jonathan: Asking my husband to crack my feet. But it’s his fault because he’s shown me that I have this joint in my arch which I never knew existed, and he cracks my arches like no other — it feels incredible. Now I ask him to do it 80 times a day.
Us: What’s the last meal you prepared for yourself or a loved one?
Jonathan: I’m obsessed with making this bean stew with jalapeño, tomato paste, beans, and cut-up sausage, along with rice. It’s amazing. But currently, my husband has been making a sloppy joe baked potato for us all the time, and it is so delicious.
