Julia Fox Reflects on Her Plastic Surgery Choices and Their Impact on Attracting Men
Julia Fox advocates for an open approach to discussing cosmetic procedures, reflecting on what initially led her to pursue plastic surgery.
“Being transparent is crucial when you achieve fame or become a public figure,” the 35-year-old actress told Allure in a cover story published on Tuesday, August 19. She revealed that, in her younger days, she aimed to cater to the male gaze but has now developed a profound appreciation for natural beauty.
“Now, when I see someone who has never altered their appearance… I wish I could return to that state. I was overly focused on the notion of needing to attract men for my survival,” Fox shared.
The actress disclosed that she began using fillers and Botox around the age of 21. Throughout her cosmetic journey, she also had liposuction, a rhinoplasty, and enhanced her smile with veneers.
Fox mentioned she has paused her cosmetic procedures but hasn’t ruled out future enhancements. “Right now, it’s just not my main focus,” she clarified.
The star spoke openly about her anxieties regarding aging, noting that she’s learning to embrace her skin and anticipates welcoming her physical transformations as time goes on.
“What terrifies me the most is feeling old; there are moments when I do feel that way… exhausted, disenchanted,” she revealed. “When you’re young and attractive, that becomes your identity.”
“Will I pursue the way I once looked, or will I allow myself to change and discover what lies ahead? It could evolve into something entirely different, and I’m choosing to embrace that path,” she declared.
Fox, noted for her unique style choices — such as a daring bodysuit at Coachella and a sheer dress at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party — affirmed her intention to keep expressing herself with fashion that pushes boundaries.
“To a New Yorker, [my style] feels routine… Yet, I understand how someone unfamiliar might think, ‘What’s wrong with her? What drugs is she on? What an attention-seeking woman,’” Fox remarked, urging critics to reconsider her fashion choices. “Have you never attended a show, a museum, a fashion event? Have you never explored an art book?”
