Julia Roberts Shares That Son Henry Wore Her Iconic 1990 Armani Suit
Julia Roberts’ son Henry Moder has borrowed a renowned item from her collection of clothes.
During an interview with Extra on Tuesday, September 30, Roberts, 57, made a rare mention of her 18-year-old son. She disclosed that not only does she still possess the menswear Armani suit she wore to the 1990 Golden Globes, but Henry “just had it on the other day.”
The Pretty Woman star reminisced about her experience in the iconic suit at the award show, sharing that she initially tried on outfits in the women’s section at the Armani store.
“Then I went upstairs to the men’s department. I remember putting the suit on and just loving it,” she said, noting her delight at being able to have it tailored to her specifications immediately. “I was really impressed with myself.”
In her 2024 Life in Looks video for Vogue, Roberts described the suit as one of her “all-time favorite outfits,” making it a significant gesture to let Henry wear it.
Roberts’ remark about her youngest son, whom she shares with husband Danny Moder — along with twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 20 — comes after she celebrated Henry’s 18th birthday with a nostalgic throwback photo on Instagram.
“In the blink of a joyful eye this beacon of a boy is ⚡️ 18 ⚡️ I love you Henry,” she captioned a childhood photo of Henry on June 18, including the hashtags, “#goldenboy #goldenbirthday.”
Roberts married Moder, 56, in 2002 at her ranch in Taos, New Mexico, two years after their meeting on the set of the 2000 film The Mexican. Earlier this week, the Notting Hill star expressed that her husband brings her joy “in life.”
“Danny Moder,” she told Entertainment Tonight on Sunday, September 28. “Never changes. Never changes! Sometimes more. Sometimes medium.”
In 2022, Roberts shared with CBS Mornings that while being an actress was her “dream come true,” having a family was even better.
“The life that I’ve built with my husband, the life that we’ve built with our children [is a dream come true],” she said. “And that’s the best stuff, to come home at the end of the day triumphantly to them.”
Roberts also recently provided rare insight into her and Moder’s approach to parenting in an interview with George Clooney for Edward and Akua Enninful’s 72 Magazine.
“I think they were definitely some of the last kids in their peer groups to get phones and things like that. When they were younger, I think Danny and I were perceived as stricter parents,” she explained in Us Weekly’s exclusive preview of the fall 2025 issue in September. “Not that we’re laying down the law, but these are the rules and they are consistent. Here’s the boundary of your life, and it doesn’t shift. You don’t ask me for an answer and then go ask dad for a different one. That doesn’t happen. It will never happen.”
Roberts concluded, “I believe that creates the stability that allows them to feel secure because there’s this fixed world of love and safety that exists unconditionally.”
