Justin Anderson Reflects on Accidentally Burning Katy Perry’s Hair Before Her Pixie Cut

Justin Anderson shared a funny incident involving Katy Perry and her hair.

The renowned hairstylist recounted the time he accidentally damaged Perry’s hair when she aimed for a blonde look during a conversation with Kristin Cavallari on an episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast on Tuesday, May 20.

“You styled her hair,” Cavallari, 38, remarked while discussing the singer, 40.

Anderson promptly corrected her, saying, “I burnt her hair off.”

“Katy was trying to transition to blonde, having visited another stylist who struggled to achieve the look,” he elaborated, noting that Perry’s signature black hair is “virtually impossible” to lift to a platinum blonde.

Anderson added, “By the time she came to me, her hair had been bleached repeatedly, resulting in crisp strands. I advised her, ‘Katy, your hair will break off if we proceed.’” However, Perry, known for her adventurous spirit, opted to chase her blonde vision.

The hairstylist used “the most gentle bleach” available, but as he approached her roots, “all the foils in the back just started falling out” due to the damage.

“It was a disaster,” Anderson admitted, mentioning that this incident led to Perry’s blonde pixie cut in 2017.

He concluded his tale by describing it as the “worst experience” any hairstylist could face.

Perry sported her platinum locks for a significant period. In 2019, she began growing out her hair to a bob and maintained that trendy length until 2021, when she returned to her classic brunette look and long hair extensions.

Currently, she is dazzling with her black hair on her Lifetimes Tour.
