Justin Bieber Updates Caption Following Remarks on Hailey’s Vogue Cover

UPDATE, 5/22/25 at 9:07 a.m. ET:

Justin Bieber has revised his Instagram caption after revealing he previously told his wife Hailey Bieber that she’d “never” appear on the cover of Vogue.

Sharp-eyed fans noticed on Thursday, May 22, that Bieber’s candid caption — which garnered some criticism online — was changed to a collection of emojis, including a shrugging man, a pointing finger, heart hands, and a face with tears. (For reference: 🤷🫵🏻🫶🏼🥹.)

Just hours after Hailey Bieber’s first solo Vogue cover was released on Tuesday, May 20, Justin Bieber took to Instagram to share a candid reflection about a past disagreement with his wife regarding the magazine.

The “hurtful” remark originated from feeling “disrespected,” which Justin, 31, has now expressed deep regret over.

“Yo, this brings to mind when Hailey and I had a major fight,” Justin captioned a photo of Hailey’s cover on Instagram. He then revealed: “I told Hails she’d never be on the cover of Vogue. Yikes, I know, that was so mean.”

This confession, especially considering Hailey’s successful career as a supermodel and her now-second Vogue cover since their marriage (including the shared March 2019 Vogue cover), highlights this significant moment in their relationship and the power dynamics involved.

Justin expressed a “fleeting yet intense” feeling to retaliate when feeling disrespected. “For some reason, when I felt so disrespected, I thought I had to get even…” he wrote.

However, he quickly shifted to a more mature perspective, reflecting on the lessons they’ve learned together. “As we grow, we realize getting even doesn’t help; it only prolongs what we truly seek — intimacy and connection,” he added.

The singer, who shares son Jack Blues, 8 months, with Hailey, concluded his apology with a direct message to his wife: “So baby, you already know, but forgive me for saying you wouldn’t get a Vogue cover because clearly, I was sadly mistaken.”

This honest reflection from Justin offers an intimate view into their relationship and inadvertently emphasizes Hailey’s notable presence in the fashion industry.
