Justin Hartley Hints at Tracker Season 3 Following Potential Cast Changes

Justin Hartley teased the developments in season 3 of Tracker amid potential changes to the cast.

“One aspect I appreciate about our show is that each time we resolve a question, it leads to five more,” Hartley, 48, shared with Variety on Saturday, June 21. “It’s almost as if things are getting more intricate. I find that appealing about our show.”

Hartley confirmed filming for the new season is slated to begin in July. He hinted at the dramatic turns following his character, Colter, uncovering his mother’s potential involvement in his father’s unexpected death.

“We are going to delve into why my mother hired this individual,” he added. “Was she trying to protect her children? Was there an affair? Was the government involved? What’s the extent of my mother’s involvement? Why did she keep this from us for so long? Why did she make me think my brother was involved when he wasn’t?”

Tracker has become a CBS success, but season 3 may introduce changes to maintain viewer engagement. Since its premiere in February 2024, fans have been eagerly watching Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) embark on a journey across the nation to tackle various missing persons cases.

Season 3 of Tracker is expected to undergo some cast reconfigurations; fans are curious to know which beloved characters will return and which may not. Since its debut in February 2024, viewers have followed Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) as he tackles various cases of missing persons with the aid of his team.

“I believe the characters are evolving. If I can’t develop Randy, Reenie, or Bobby, they can’t just be there to say, ‘Here’s the answer.’ That would make the show feel formulaic,” he explained to Us Weekly in May. “The challenge is learning more about these characters, which I find fascinating. That’s the real challenge: avoiding a formulaic approach.”

Reid emphasized their intention for Tracker to “steer clear of complacency.”

“The one rule I enforce is that each week, Colter will arrive in a new location and face a new case. How he uncovers the answers and uses his team is flexible,” Reid teased. “We aim to introduce more unique local characters as the season continues, showcasing Justin’s ability to interact with an engaging guest cast.”
