Kanye West Walks Out on Piers Morgan During Intense Debate
Kanye West’s latest interview with Piers Morgan quickly spiraled out of control.
West, 47, appeared on the Tuesday, May 6, broadcast of Morgan’s news program Uncensored alongside influencer Sneako. The duo sat down for a discussion in Majorca, Spain. When Morgan asked the rapper, 60, about his well-being, West encouraged him to “judge” based on “the view.”
“The view is Majorca, I’ve been there. It’s picturesque, and you seem very relaxed and happy. That’s quite different from your public persona lately, characterized by your intense…” Morgan began, but West interrupted. “Hold on. Let me complete the question…”
In response, West shot back immediately.
“But I disagree already. It’s not different — many people and artists are supporting the idea of being able to genuinely express oneself, even amidst the backlash from the banks, being attacked, you know, by the banks — that’s the simplest way to put it,” he replied. “Facing the banks, yet still enjoying this view is, you know, that’s a victory. So I think that’s — I’m in contrast to your contrast.”
Morgan then shifted to the topic of social media — specifically, West’s account on X. When Morgan noted West’s “32 million followers,” the musician challenged him on that number.
“Look, you’re not going to shrink my presence with that, bro. How many followers do I actually have?” he retorted.
Morgan’s team checked the figure, and he promptly corrected himself.
Confused by West’s reaction, Morgan asked, “What are you talking about? I haven’t said anything?”
West accused Morgan of “not taking accountability or responsibility” and suggested they could “revisit this when you can count.” He then took off his mic and exited the frame.
“That’s it for Ye,” Sneako commented. “Nice to meet you, Piers.”
After the interview aired, Morgan defended his choice to have West on the show, explaining that he aimed to seek answers about the rapper’s series of antisemitic posts on social media.
“The reason I wanted to have him on was because I feel he goes unchecked for his actions on X, and he consistently violates platform rules, yet seems to evade consequences while many others get suspended for lesser offenses,” he stated. “I intended to ask him directly why, when mentioning his following, I wanted to inquire about his posts and the motivation behind them. Why he repeatedly targets Jewish people and expresses admiration for Adolf Hitler?”
In February, West made headlines with a social media tirade that included antisemitic comments and asserted he has “dominion” over his wife, Bianca Censori. Us Weekly reached out to West’s representative for comments at that time.
