Kate Middleton Acknowledged the Spotlight on Her Regal Appearance at the Banquet
All eyes were on Kate Middleton during the state banquet — and rightfully so.
The Princess of Wales, 43, showcased her elegance at the September 17 event, honoring President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump during their state visit to the U.K. Royal author Ingrid Seward commended Kate for her grace and glamour.
“She brightened the entire evening,” Seward remarked to People on Monday, September 22. “Her megawatt smile lit up the table. There was considerable pressure on her.”
Kate’s regal appearance was unforgettable. She chose a couture, floor-length silk gown designed by British designer Phillipa Lepley, accompanied by a hand-embroidered gold Chantilly lace evening coat, the iconic Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara, and a ceremonial sash.
The editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine remarked that Kate was “very aware” of the spotlight on her. “She has never looked more stunning than she did that night. She looked magnificent — truly golden, and it’s certainly the best I’ve seen her at a state banquet.”
“She is undoubtedly demonstrating the qualities of a remarkable future queen,” Seward noted.
Trump was seated between King Charles and Kate during the event, and according to royal expert, Kate “entertained” the president quite well. “She is truly a master of perfect etiquette.”
Princess Kate has made remarkable strides since her health challenges. The mother of three — sharing Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, with husband Prince William — publicly disclosed her cancer diagnosis in March 2024 and announced she had completed chemotherapy in September 2024.
This past January, Kate shared the news of her remission.
“Kate’s perspective has evolved, and her priorities have shifted,” a source revealed to Us Weekly in August as she reintegrates into royal duties. “[She’s] focusing on her family and overall well-being.”
Prince William, 43, and Kate have both set clear boundaries regarding their commitments to safeguard their mental health and family life, according to a second source, who stated, “While they take their obligations seriously, they are not hesitant to decline when necessary.”
