Kate Middleton Pays Tribute to Late Cancer Patient on International Women’s Day

Princess Kate Middleton paid tribute to late cancer patient Liz Hatton, who the royal first encountered in October of the previous year.

“Celebrating the strength and creativity of Liz and Vicky Hatton,” Kate, 43, shared via X on Saturday, March 8, in honor of International Women’s Day. “It was a privilege to meet them both in Windsor last October. Liz’s legacy continues through Vicky’s unwavering resilience. Thank you for such a heartfelt moment #IWD2025.”

Both Kate and her husband, Prince William, included Hatton, a photographer, in their list of “inspiring women who have motivated us over the past year,” which was shared on X over the weekend.

Kate had previously met Hatton at Windsor Castle in October 2024 during an investiture ceremony led by William, 42. During the event, Hatton captured photographs of the honorees and had the chance to meet both William and Kate afterward.

“It was a pleasure meeting Liz at Windsor today,” the couple posted on X at the time, alongside a photo of Kate embracing Hatton and posing with her family. “A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength has been an inspiration to us both. Thank you for sharing your photos and your story. W&C.”

The October 2024 event marked Kate’s first official appearance as a senior working royal following her completion of chemotherapy treatment.

Middleton was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer early in 2024, which limited her public engagements during a preventive course of chemotherapy. She completed her treatment in September 2024.

“As summer draws to a close, I cannot express how relieved I am to have finally finished my chemotherapy treatment,” Kate stated in a video message at the time. “The past nine months have been extremely challenging for our family. Life, as you know, can change in an instant, and we’ve had to find a way to navigate through stormy waters and an uncertain path.”

Will and Kate have three children: sons Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, 6, and daughter Princess Charlotte, 9, all of whom were featured in the video message shared on social media.

“With humility, this experience brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in ways you may have never imagined, offering a fresh perspective on everything,” Kate continued in her message.

“Above all, this time has reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet significant aspects of life that so many of us often overlook,” she added. “For the joy of simply loving and being loved.”
