Katie Bates and Travis Clark Share Their Heartbreaking Pregnancy Loss
Bringing Up Bates alum Katie Bates has opened up about her recent pregnancy loss.
“I will spend the rest of my life missing you,” Bates, 25, expressed via Instagram on Friday, January 17, sharing a montage of her pregnancy moments.
Bates shared clips of herself taking a pregnancy test and finding out the results, as well as a unique way to inform her husband, Travis Clark. The clip later showed Bates in tears in a hospital room.
Katie, who has two children with 24-year-old Clark, is one of Gil and Kelly Jo Bates’s 19 children. The well-known family expressed their support for her in the comments section of her Instagram post.
“There’s no way to express the pain of a loss like this,” her parents commented. “Our hearts are all broken, but we trust we will meet this precious little one again someday!”
Katie’s siblings Carlin, Zach, Josie, Lawson, and Michaela also shared their supportive thoughts.
“Our hearts are broken for you, Katie 💔🥺,” replied Zach, 37, who is expecting baby No. 6 with wife Whitney Bates. “We love you so much and will keep you in our prayers!”
Carlin, 27, added, “My heart is shattered for you 💔 love you, sis!! 😭.”
Us Weekly first reported in March 2020 that Katie and Clark had begun a courtship after meeting through mutual friends. Clark proposed one year later in April 2021, and the couple married in December 2021.
“This day was worth every moment of waiting, dreaming, and even the stresses of wedding planning,” Katie and Clark told Us about their wedding day. “It’s been worth it all, and we still can’t believe we are married!”
They continued, “We know we have much to learn about marriage and relationships, but we are excited to grow together. Marrying your best friend is truly special and even more so when shared with family and friends.”
Katie and Clark welcomed their daughter Hailey in 2023, followed by their son, Harvey, the next year.
“Harvey arrived last night, and we are already completely in love,” the couple captioned a joint Instagram post in September 2024. “After I gave birth, he had to be taken away due to low oxygen levels, which was really scary. I managed to hold him for a moment before they took him. He was then placed on oxygen, given six hours to breathe on his own. I must say, Harvey is a fighter, and we are incredibly proud of him!”
Harvey was discharged from the NICU a few weeks later.
“We want to thank everyone for praying for little Harvey,” Katie shared via her Instagram Stories in early October 2024. “The love and encouraging messages have truly meant so much to us! Thankfully, he was able to come off the oxygen and is now breathing on his own, which has been a significant answer to prayer!”
