Katie Gaudreau Unveils New Save the Date and Stunning Wedding Ring
The newly rescheduled wedding for Katie Gaudreau and her fiancé, Devin Joyce, is approaching after their initial date was canceled due to the heartbreaking loss of Katie’s brothers, Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau.
On Tuesday, March 18, Katie revealed a save the date for their special day through her Instagram Story, set for July 11 in Philadelphia. She cleverly obscured the details with her hand, using the opportunity to showcase her stunning diamond engagement ring and wedding band.
Originally, the couple was slated to tie the knot on August 31, 2024, but sadly had to delay the celebration after Johnny, aged 31, and Matthew, 29, were tragically killed by an alleged drunk driver while biking in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, just a day before the ceremony.
Katie and Devin recently marked nine years together, with Katie reflecting on the challenging journey faced by the Gaudreau family.
Sharing her thoughts on Instagram, she expressed, “9 (official) years filled with love and laughter, and I couldn’t be more thankful to have you by my side. This past year has put us through tests I never imagined, but our love has emerged even stronger. You’ve supported me in ways beyond words, and I know I wouldn’t have made it through without you.”
Looking ahead, Katie expressed a hopeful vision for the life she aspires to create with Devin.
“Since high school, I’ve eagerly awaited the day I get to call you my husband….even now, while I call you my husband, I can’t wait for July 11th to officially become your wife,” she penned. “Whatever challenges life throws our way, I’m always ready to sing off-key and dance awkwardly with you — whether in a bar or our cozy kitchen — forever and beyond.”
She concluded her post with, “I thought last year would mark our final celebration of March 12, 2016, but this year has taught me to cherish our love every day, every minute. I love you and love celebrating our bond, husband.”
In the days following the loss of Johnny and Matthew, Katie recounted the moment she received the tragic news while preparing for her wedding.
“That day,” she recalled on Instagram September 5, just under a week after her intended wedding date. “In the midst of getting ready for what was supposed to be the best day of my life, the unthinkable happened, altering my life forever. I remember a week earlier sitting in the hotel with family, texting Devin about how we forgot to practice our dip. At that moment, we thought that was our biggest concern, but with a few phone calls, our lives were forever changed.”
Katie added, “Make sure to tell your loved ones you care. I’d give anything for another chance to tell my big brothers I love them.”
Johnny was gearing up to enter his third season with the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets and was expecting his third child with his wife, Meredith Gaudreau. Similarly, Matthew was preparing to transition from his coaching role with the North American Hockey League’s Philadelphia Rebels and welcome his first baby with his wife, Madeline Gaudreau. Their son, Tripp Matthew, was born in December 2024.
