Kayla Nicole Appears to Confirm She Retained Custody of Dogs Following Travis Kelce Breakup
Although Kayla Nicole has parted ways with Travis Kelce, she hasn’t said goodbye to their two dogs whom they shared during their relationship.
“I have dogs from a previous relationship, and I kept both of them,” Nicole, 33, stated on the May 9 episode of Dear Media’s “The Pre-Game With Kayla Nicole” podcast. “I recently had a vet bill that totaled $2,000.”
The topic arose during her discussion with guest Nazanin Mandi. After her marriage with Miguel ended in 2022, the model, 38, managed to share custody of the two cats she had with her ex.
“That reflects the type of relationship you maintain,” Nicole noted while commending her guest. “It signifies that you both are in a healthy and safe space to make mature decisions.”
Mandi added, “We are in a cordial space to make adult decisions. That sums it up well.”
Later in the podcast, Mandi mentioned her commitment to remaining loyal to her ex, stating that she has no intention of publicly discussing the reasons behind their marriage’s end.
Nicole echoed this sentiment, expressing her wish to keep her past relationships private, especially in the public eye.
“Many people air their dirty laundry for various reasons—grief, financial gain, or publicity—but I feel similarly,” she commented. “I have no desire to portray anyone I’ve loved negatively.”
Nicole continued, “It’s about finding that delicate balance; I can share my truth and life experiences, but I will never intentionally badmouth anyone I’ve cared about.”
While Nicole didn’t mention Kelce by name during the podcast, the pair had an on-and-off relationship for five years before calling it quits in 2022. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, has since moved on with Taylor Swift.
The public attention that came with dating Kelce led Nicole to reevaluate how she views relationships.
“I’m like John Cena now when it comes to men,” Nicole stated on the April 3 episode of her podcast. “You won’t see me with a man until I’m married with kids. Scout’s honor.”
Although the Special Forces alum acknowledged that some may interpret her stance as being “sneaky,” she views her approach differently.
“I’m protecting myself and protecting you,” she explained. “I prefer not to publicly date another man until I’m confident they’re my long-term partner, as I want to safeguard what matters most to me.”
