Keith Urban Cancels Concert Following Nicole Kidman Divorce News
During his divorce from Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban has had to cancel his upcoming concert in Greenville, South Carolina, due to an illness.
On Thursday, October 16, the venue where Urban, 57, was scheduled to perform announced that the singer had been advised by a doctor to postpone the show to focus on his health.
“Keith Urban has been advised by his longtime laryngologist Dr. Gaelyn Garrett, from the Vanderbilt Voice Center, to cancel his performance in Greenville, SC at Bon Secours Wellness Arena due to laryngitis which began earlier this week,” the notice on the venue’s website states.
According to the Mayo Clinic, laryngitis is an inflammation of the voice box that can occur due to overuse, irritation, or infection.
The Bon Secours Wellness Arena added that those who “purchased tickets through Ticketmaster” would receive their “refunds automatically.”
“If you bought from a third-party reseller, please reach out to your point of purchase,” they advised.
Urban also provided his own statement regarding the cancellation, expressing his regret for the short notice.
“Hey Greenville, I’m so SO sorry to have to cancel the show …. I understand all the logistics involved in attending a concert these days, and I’ve never taken any of that, or any of YOU, for granted,” he remarked in a message to the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. “I’m eager to return when we can!!!!!”
Urban is still expected to perform in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday, October 17.
Us Weekly confirmed last month that Kidman, 58, filed for divorce from Urban after 19 years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. Kidman also requested to be named the “primary residential parent” of her and Urban’s daughters Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14.
According to court documents obtained by Us, Sunday and Faith will spend 306 days of the year with Kidman and 59 days of the year with Urban as part of their agreement.
Shortly following her divorce filing, a source exclusively informed Us that Urban and Kidman had “been quietly separated for a while now but needed time to decide if they would actually divorce.”
“She had hope they could resolve their issues. This wasn’t Nicole’s decision, and she is heartbroken,” the insider stated. “Her trust was broken, and it had gone too far. Nicole had been trying to salvage their marriage and did not want this to be public. She kept most of her friends in the dark about their situation for months.”
Another source indicated that Urban and Kidman’s demanding work schedules contributed to their separation as they were “growing apart.”
“They had been spending a lot of time apart due to work commitments and were leading separate lives. Nicole and Keith were not aligned,” the insider disclosed.
After the announcement of their split, footage from Urban’s previous concerts reemerged online, igniting rumors of an affair between the singer and one of his guitar players, Maggie Baugh. In various social media clips, Urban altered the lyrics of “The Fighter,” a song about Kidman, while seemingly pointing and shouting out to Baugh.
Although Baugh, 25, and Urban have not yet commented on the speculation, Baugh’s father denied the rumors on his Facebook page, stating, “NO. Just no.”
Meanwhile, Urban has removed “The Fighter” from his setlist since the divorce news went public, and Baugh did not accompany Urban during his first show post-split, opting to continue on her own solo tour.
