Kelly Stafford’s Children Faced ‘Bullying’ Amidst Matt Stafford Trade Speculation

Kelly Stafford is opening up about how the viral speculation surrounding her husband Matt Stafford’s NFL career has impacted their family.

“There were rumors about whether Matthew was getting traded this past year,” Kelly, 36, revealed on the Sunday, August 31, episode of the “Sunday Sports Club” podcast. “[There were whispers] that ‘his wife was causing issues,’ and that became part of the drama. … The kids at school were teasing them, saying, ‘You might have to move because of your mom, she’s too loud and whatever.’”

Kelly and Matt, 37, are parents to twins Sawyer and Chandler, age 8, daughter Hunter, 7, and daughter Tyler, 5. As the 2025-2026 NFL season approaches, rumors circulated that the Los Angeles Rams intended to trade the quarterback to another team.

“My girls came home asking, ‘Mommy, are we moving because of you?’ I was shocked, thinking, ‘Because of me?’” Kelly recounted to podcast host Allison Kuch. “I was like, ‘What the f***?’ It wasn’t the Rams.”

When reports surfaced last month that Matthew Stafford was in discussions to be traded from the Los Angeles Rams to the Minnesota Vikings, it made its way to Kelly Stafford’s social media feed. “I open […]

Matt ultimately re-signed with the Rams, where he has been the quarterback since 2021 (Matt joined the Rams after being traded from the Detroit Lions).

“It’s all about having fun, and every year I look forward to another season,” Kelly shared. “Every year, I hope for a healthy season.”

During many of Matt’s home games, Kelly and their daughters watch from a private suite at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium.

“I will say, though, when we attend away games, we sit [in the bleachers] and I actually enjoy it,” she mentioned. “My girls love being there. They get to wave and try to catch his attention, saying, ‘I just want to see my dad.’”

Kelly continued, “They enjoy it, but it’s stressful. People make comments—not directly to them, but maybe about their dad in front of them.”

Kelly also expressed her desire to take her kids to “a ton” of NFL games this season.

“I’m worried about it,” she confessed. “It’s a lot, and they’re all East Coast games. We’re playing all the East Coast teams.”

In addition to managing game day logistics, Kelly is already planning the family’s outfits.

“I keep telling myself, ‘This might be his last year, so I’m going to enjoy it,’” Kelly joked. “I might not go for the designer brands, but I make sure to get the fun ‘Stafford’ style on the back—especially for the girls. I’m saving all of these so they can pass them down. Not that they’ll want Grandpa’s [face on a] denim jacket with a painting on the back. We spent a lot on it, so that’s getting saved in some way.”
