Kelsey Grammer opened up exclusively to Us Weekly about the unique experience of raising seven kids with a significant age difference, just before news broke that he and wife Kayte Walsh were expecting their fourth child together. “It’s been fascinating. The age range spans from [41] to 8. That’s quite something,” Grammer, 70, remarked in an interview conducted in May. […]

He shares his daughter Spencer, 42, with first wife Doreen Alderman, daughter Greer, 33, with ex Barrie Buckner, and sons Mason, 24, and Jude, 21, with third wife Camille Meyer. Grammer and Walsh, who wed in 2011, are also the parents of kids Faith, 12, Gabriel, 10, and James, 8.

Earlier this year, Grammer spoke exclusively with Us Weekly about fatherhood and the broad age gap between his oldest and youngest children.

“It’s been fascinating,” he told Us in a May interview. “The age range extends from [41] to 8. That’s remarkable. The 12, 10, and 8-year-olds are the ones I spend the most time with, and it’s wonderful.”

He added, “[My kids] are incredible, and they bring so much meaning to my life. The love I feel today is truly breathtaking.”

Kelsey Grammer found his fairy tale ending with wife Kayte Walsh after three previous marriages. The Frasier star first married Doreen Alderman in 1982, with whom he has daughter Spencer. At that time, Grammer had published his memoir, Karen: A Brother Remembers, where he recounted the pain of losing a child while Walsh was pregnant with twins in 2012. He described experiencing “the greatest sorrow” when he and his wife chose to terminate one of the twins due to severe complications.

Doctors had informed them at 13 weeks that the male twin’s amniotic sac had ruptured and could not be repaired. Faced with the potential loss of both twins, Grammer and Walsh made the heartbreaking decision to preserve their daughter Faith’s life.

In conversations with Us, Grammer expressed that the birth of their son Gabriel in 2014 brought a sense of healing.

“It genuinely made us stronger in many ways,” he said. “Kayte endured so much. We can shed tears over that day, but we are grateful for the blessing of having [our son] Gabriel come into our lives [afterward].”
