Kendall Jenner Desired a ‘Darker Side’ for Her Vanity Fair Oscar Glam Look
Kendall Jenner enjoys experimenting with her makeup as long as her foundation remains consistent.
At the Vanity Fair Oscar Party held on Sunday, March 2, Jenner, 29, aimed for a makeup look that was slightly “darker” while maintaining her signature glow. “We never take it too far,” she shared with Vanity Fair during a YouTube video directed by Kirsten White that was released on Monday, March 3.
Her makeup artist, Mary Phillips, echoed her sentiment, stating, “We’ll adjust the tones of the makeup, but we’ll keep her signature look very consistent.” Phillips applied Infallible Blur-fection Powder beneath Jenner’s eyes and across the center of her complexion, creating the exact eye makeup she envisioned, featuring bronzed eyeshadow and charming lashes accentuated by L’Oreal Paris Panorama mascara.
As she was getting ready, the model lauded Phillips—whom she has collaborated with for nine years—and hairstylist Tamás Tüzes, describing them as her “angels sent from heaven.”
“I literally don’t go anywhere without Mary,” the supermodel expressed. “I won’t step foot on a red carpet without her.”
Continuing, Jenner made Phillips blush, “She’s the best thing to ever happen to me. I’m obsessed with her. She’s more than a makeup artist—she’s my family.”
Phillips reciprocated the sentiment, telling Jenner, “It’s very mutual. She saved me as well. We found each other.”
Jenner—who only enjoys late nights out “five nights a year”—also praised her new hairstylist, Tüzes, feeling “so lucky” to work alongside both of them.
The 818 founder understands the significance of having a supportive glam team, attributing many of her striking looks to them. “It’s also about having good energy around you with people you trust, feel comfortable with, and that uplift you,” she elaborated.
Jenner also expressed admiration for her vintage 1992 Mugler dress, characterized by a rubber lace silhouette, long pagoda sleeves, and a keyhole cutout. Styled by Dani Michelle, she felt “honored” to wear such a design.
During the 1992 runway show, Eva Herzigová modeled the stunning dress adorned with red ruby earrings, which Jenner mirrored with custom pieces from Lorraine Schwartz.
Later in the video, Jenner humorously mentioned that a Dirty Shirley would be her cocktail of choice at the Vanity Fair Oscar party. She even embraced the vibe by ordering one to her hotel room before heading out. Cheers to that!
