Kody Brown of Special Forces Expresses Concerns About Gendered Perspectives on Sexism

Sister Wives star Kody Brown took the opportunity during his stint on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test to impart some insights on the differences between men and women.

In an Us Weekly exclusive clip from the Thursday, September 25 episode of the popular Fox series, Kody reveals his approach to progressing in the competition.

“I’ll say this at the risk of being perceived as sexist,” he shares in a confessional. “Men seek respect, while women seek love. I might not care if you love me, but respect is important to me.”

Kody, 56, is among several reality TV personalities in the season 4 lineup of Special Forces. This season also features Jussie Smollett, Brittany Cartwright, Eric Decker, Jessie James Decker, Johnny Manziel, Chanel Iman, Nick Young, Ravi Patel, Brianna LaPaglia, Andrew East, Shawn Johnson East, Randall Cobb, and Teresa Giudice.

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test challenges celebrities to their breaking points, and season 4 promises to be equally intense. The reality competition immerses athletes, reality TV stars, musicians, and others in grueling tests similar to those undertaken by actual United States Special Forces candidates. There are no eliminations throughout the process, but the challenges are relentless.

Special Forces, which debuted in 2023, subjects contestants to rigorous, military-style training that mimics the real-life Special Forces selection procedures. Participants face severe physical and psychological challenges to push their limits.

Before the premiere, Kody opened up exclusively to Us about some of the personal struggles he encountered during the competition.

“One time, my muscles just gave out,” he recounted earlier this month. “We were meant to swing across monkey bars, but I had sand on my hands and couldn’t grip them. I simply lacked the strength.”

Kody reflected on how the Directing Staff (DS) instructors sought to challenge the recruits through hazing techniques.

Over a dozen new recruits are gearing up for challenges in season 4 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. The fourth season, returning to Fox on September 25, features reality TV stars including The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Teresa Giudice and her daughter Gia Giudice, alongside Brittany Cartwright from The Valley and Kody from Sister Wives.

“I’m not sure what they called the punishment,” he noted. “We were standing in water, shivering, and I didn’t want the DS to notice. I wanted to hide any signs of weakness from them.”

According to Kody, he pretended to wheeze to give the impression that he was at his limit.

“After we’d been run ragged, I started wheezing a bit, which was somewhat exaggerated,” he told Us. “I thought if they believed I was really pushing myself, they wouldn’t push me harder, and I’d need some energy later on. While doing press-ups, I was wheezing.”

Kody added: “I was well aware that I hadn’t reached my physical limits. I had much more to give.”

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test season 4 premieres on Fox Thursday, September 25, at 9 p.m. ET.
