Kody Brown Talks About Moving Away from Reality TV
Since 2010, Kody has permitted TLC cameras to showcase his life with his four wives — Robyn, Christine, Janelle, and Meri Brown — and their collective 18 children. (Currently, he is only married to Robyn.)
In his recent interview, Kody acknowledged that it’s a “challenge” to partake in reality TV. Thus, he wouldn’t mind if Robyn, 47, chose to step back.
“I’d like to retire my wife, Robyn, from reality television so they can’t pit us against each other now,” he said, while assuring that their relationship remains strong. “We’re solid. … I like to talk about my wife who is shy, who doesn’t want me talking about her, but she’s my favorite person in the world.”
Kody Brown Discusses Divorce
During the interview, Nick, 45, inquired whether divorcing three wives was as financially burdensome as it appears.
“It’s been expensive emotionally in a way that is inconceivable, I think,” Kody explained. “There was no legal marriage. It was only expensive in paying for kids. … They all made more money than me, so there was no alimony to be paid.”
Despite the financial implications, Kody admitted that the breakups affected his mental health.
“I think something just tweaked me a little bit,” he elaborated. “You can’t come out of three divorces and not struggle a little bit with some sort of mental illness.”
Kody Brown Refutes Accusations of Sexism
During the season finale of Special Forces, Kody faced challenges when interrogated by a female member of the intelligence team.
In a September episode, Kody also discussed his views on gender dynamics.
“I am going to say this at the risk of sounding sexist,” he remarked. “I think men want to be respected and women want to be loved. I don’t care if you love me, but I care if you respect me.”
While talking with Nick, Kody addressed allegations of sexism by saying, “I’ve always preferred the company of women to men.”
“In a men’s world, you don’t have to behave completely like a gentleman,” he added. “But I used to be adept at discussing what was appropriate around women because I was always around women and I preferred their company.”
What Kody Brown Contributed to ‘Special Forces’
Numerous contestants have often mentioned the limited resources available during the filming of Special Forces.
Brianna, 26, mentioned that Kody “brought a bag of supplements the size of this couch” to the show.
When asked what he took, Kody explained, “It wasn’t ADHD medicine, but I had some stuff that was nootropics. I had a nootropic package, and the doctor allowed me to bring it; all it is is vitamins. … Then I had a caffeine supplement, plus vitamin D. Then I had something to assist my sleep. I also had a mouthguard.”
Kody Brown’s First Meal After ‘Special Forces’
To commemorate the conclusion of Special Forces, Kody indulged in a remarkable meal during his flight back to the United States.
“I’m flying Emirates on the way back, and they served me caviar and filet mignon,” he shared while enthusiastically describing the experience. “It was a giant airplane.”
