Kristen Bell Reveals Dax Shepard’s Whereabouts After He Skipped the Actor Awards Red Carpet
Kristen Bell shared insights about her husband Dax Shepard after she attended the SAG’s 2026 Actor Awards red carpet without him.
“In case you were curious about my activities when I wasn’t on stage last night. Not for a second should you think I could handle this job alone,” Bell, 45, captioned an Instagram post on Monday, March 2, featuring Shepard, 51, with her and their kids backstage. “Never undervalue your support system. The ambitions you strive for, the dreams you pursue — none of it occurs in solitude. The people cheering you on are not just an addition; they are your cornerstone.”
She went on to say: “Thank you @daxshepard for being unwaveringly supportive and present. You’ve always been there to ease my anxiety when the pressure mounts. Our family dynamic fuels my creativity, performance, and love for entertaining. I’m grateful for the space I can occupy, and I will always make room for all three of you when needed. ❤️.”
Bell made a remarkable impact on the red carpet at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 1. The actress dazzled in a sheer silver gown and was briefly accompanied by her Nobody Wants This costar Jackie Tohn, who wore a pink dress.
Meanwhile, Shepard was not seen at the event after sharing his rather mundane colonoscopy prep on Instagram Stories earlier that day. He posted a screenshot of a conversation reminding him to stick to clear liquids on Sunday before transitioning to water for the procedure on Monday, March 2.
Shepard humorously replied, “I’m currently indulging in a steak smothered in seeds and nuts.”
This year marks the third occasion that Bell has served as an emcee for the ceremony. She was its inaugural host in 2018 and made a return in 2025.
“In my opinion, there’s no other award show that has such a warm atmosphere or a greater sense of camaraderie,” she told People prior to the event. “The chance to entertain in front of people I admire and with friends and fellow performers is truly special.”
Bell humorously shared that her greatest fear while on stage is “tripping,” adding, “Because I’m not a fan of high heels, and that’s always a concern.” She also emphasized how supportive Shepard has been since she accepted her role.
“There’s nothing he wouldn’t do to support me,” Bell said, expressing gratitude for Shepard’s commitment. “One of the things I value most about our marriage is that he never feels threatened by my success.”

Bell remarked that being married for over a decade feels like “a long time,” adding, “We’ve invested considerable effort into it, and I’m very content. We consistently support one another in our marriage and family.”
Bell and Shepard, parents to daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10, celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary in October 2025. Following the milestone, Bell stirred some controversy with her public affection for Shepard.
“Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once told me: ‘I would never kill you,’” she posted on Instagram during the occasion. “‘A lot of men have killed their wives over time. Even though I have strong incentives to kill you, I never would.’”
This message received backlash, with many questioning the implication of domestic violence. Although she didn’t directly respond to the criticisms, she has continued to publicly reaffirm her marriage.
“I genuinely feel that my husband embodies the idea of ‘opposites attract,’” she shared in an interview with People in October 2025. “I recognize that my real-life husband and I are quite different.”
Reflecting on how opposites attract, Bell added:
“That doesn’t imply we couldn’t make it work or that we didn’t want to succeed. It just means we needed a lot of patience to find common ground and an understanding that we might have differing opinions on many subjects — and learn to discuss these respectfully.”
Bell also recounted the moment she realized Shepard was the one for her.
“I’m thankful I chose my husband, as he is committed to ongoing growth,” she said during an episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live that month. “I don’t like the notion that you’re searching for your perfect puzzle piece because you also need to evolve into a puzzle piece that fits with someone else.”
Bell elaborated: “If both individuals are determined to make it work, that entails continuous compromise, beneficial for both. Sometimes it will ebb, sometimes it will flow, but our mindset is that it’s not about ‘me versus you,’ but ‘us against the world.’”
