Kylie Kelce Reveals How Parenting Transformed Mealtime

Kylie Kelce is longing for “girl dinner” — a luxury she attributes to her four kids.

“I would argue that feeding kids is one of the most underrated challenges of parenting,” shared Kelce, 33, during the Thursday, July 31 episode of her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast. “It was so easy before I had children. I could simply have ‘girl dinner,’ slicing some cheese, grabbing a handful of Tostitos, or enjoying an apple with peanut butter as my meal.”

She went on to say, “But that’s no longer the case; now we need to have three meals a day. The decision-making can be overwhelming, I’ll tell you that. Plus, the need to be prepared adds to the stress. It’s just so much — it consumes a lot of my mental space.”

Kylie was inspired to discuss her family’s mealtime routines during the “Ask Me Some Things” segment of her show, where she disclosed that her husband, Jason Kelce, doesn’t often cook for her and their daughters — Wyatt, 5, Ellie, 4, Bennett, 2, and Finn, 4 months.

“I handle all the cooking in our household. Jason didn’t grow up in a cooking environment and rarely cooks. He does a great job when he does, though. Honestly, I enjoy cooking, and I intend to keep at it — hopefully not in the short-order cook way we currently do,” Kylie explained.

She mentioned that one of her daughters is a “picky eater,” another is “particular,” and one will eat anything. “It’s quite amusing,” she shared.

“Pasta is a prime example of how I have to tailor each plate,” Kylie continued. “When I prepare pasta, one child gets to choose the shape, but only from shapes that I know their sisters will eat. I find it confusing how certain pasta shapes are a definite no for each kid. So, dinner ends up being: Ellie prefers butter and cheese, Benny goes for sauce and cheese, while Wyatt just likes sauce.”

In an April episode of her podcast, Kylie discussed her daughters’ varied reactions to the arrival of baby Finn.

“Benny is still upset. She’s not happy and told me, ‘Put baby down,’” Kylie noted. “Wyatt is thrilled, frequently exclaiming, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s just so cute.’ Ellie is also excited and eager to help, particularly wanting to touch the baby’s toes.”

Kylie humorously mentioned that Ellie’s eagerness to touch her newborn sister’s toes has led to a few wake-ups.

“It’s amusing because Ellie keeps asking, ‘Can I touch your piggies?’ while the baby is sleeping. And even when I say, ‘She’s sleeping,’ Ellie replies, ‘OK. Can I touch your piggies?’ So, yes, there have been a few wake-ups just for piggy-touching, but it seems worth it,” Kylie remarked.

The Philadelphia Eagles center tied the knot with Kylie in April 2018 after connecting on a dating app nearly three years prior. Less than a year post-wedding, they welcomed their first daughter, Wyatt, in October.

Jason, 37, also mentioned the bonding moments his girls are having with Finn, revealing to E! News in May that Benny has been struggling with no longer being the youngest.

“But she recently told the new baby, ‘I love you,’ which was a significant milestone for us,” he shared. “Wyatt has really taken Finn under her wing, wanting to play the role of a mini-mom, which has been delightful to observe.”
