Lindsey Vonn Reveals Striking Photo of Her Legs Post-Surgeries

Lindsey Vonn displayed her scars after undergoing several surgeries due to her severe crash at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

“And just like that….All my muscles are gone 😔,” Vonn, 41, posted on her Instagram Story on Sunday, March 1, along with a picture of her legs propped on an exercise ball.

Her left leg, which was fractured during the accident, was covered in several bandages.

Vonn returned home over the weekend after her stay in a hospital in Italy since her crash on February 8. She reflected on her bittersweet new homecoming following the loss of her cherished dog, Leo, who passed away the day after the accident.

“Home sweet home. It feels great to be in my own bed… but entering through the front door without Leo to greet me has been a tough reality,” Vonn shared on Instagram on Sunday. “It’s a reality I must face, along with many other challenging truths ahead as I move forward….”

She continued, “My focus is now on therapy and healing. It will be a difficult and painful journey, but I am dedicating all my energy to it, as I always do. I’m going to take some time for myself. I’ll keep you updated when I can, but at this moment, my priority is self-care.”

Vonn ended her post with, “As always, thank you for the love and support. ❤️🙏🏻.”

Since the accident, Vonn has been actively sharing updates about her challenging recovery process.

She was discharged from the hospital on Monday, February 23, the same day she posted a video revealing that she was nearly forced to have her left leg amputated due to “compartment syndrome.”

“Compartment syndrome occurs when there is so much trauma to a specific area that excess blood gets trapped, essentially crushing everything in that compartment,” Vonn explained. “Consequently, all the muscle, nerves, and tendons could die.”

Vonn expressed gratitude to her doctor, Tom Hackett, for saving her leg.

“He made incisions on both sides of my leg, so to speak, [to] allow it to breathe,” she recounted.

In the video description, Vonn addressed the unpredictability of her recovery.

“Now my focus will be on rehabilitation and transitioning from a wheelchair to crutches within a few weeks,” she noted. “It will take about a year for all the bones to heal, after which I will decide whether to remove the metal or not, and then return to surgery to finally address my ACL.”

After finally leaving the hospital, Vonn shared that the emotional burden hit her hard.

“I had a tough day yesterday; everything just overwhelmed me, and I broke down,” she revealed on Instagram on Wednesday, February 25. “I know many days will be like this… the internal mental struggle has only just begun, but moments like these help me greatly. I just miss my boy Leo…”

Vonn concluded, “One day at a time.”
