Lisa Rinna Claims Daughter Amelia Developed Sepsis Due to Nipple Piercing
Lisa Rinna’s daughters, Amelia Gray and Delilah Belle, reportedly had nipple piercings — until a frightening incident made them rethink their choices.
“I was so mad. I was mad,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 62, recalled during the Friday, September 5, episode of her podcast “Let’s Not Talk About the Husband.” “But don’t you remember that little issue with Miss Amelia at Coachella? Shall I refresh your memory?”
Rinna’s husband, Harry Hamlin, couldn’t recall the event, but the former soap star was eager to recount it. Amelia, now 24, was at Coachella at a party where Rinna’s former RHOBH co-star Erika Jayne was DJing and had recently gotten a nipple piercing. (Rinna wasn’t sure if her daughter had both done.)
“[Amelia] was on a balcony; somebody pushed her forward, and her boob landed in a bush,” Rinna explained. “It jammed the nipple into the boob, and that night, she came home with a super high fever and her boob was huge. Don’t you remember?”
Hamlin, 73, still had no memory of the incident, joking, “I think I would remember nipple rings on my daughters!”
Rinna noted that after visiting an urgent care facility and getting X-rayed, Amelia’s “boobs swelled up to this humongous size.”
“We were unsure what to do, so we called an infectious disease doctor. She had to see an infectious disease doctor!” the Bravo star explained. “She had sepsis in her freaking boob. … She punctured something when she landed in the bush, and she developed sepsis and had to be on IV antibiotics for a week. It was truly very dangerous, guys. It was dangerous.”
She added regarding the piercings: “Anyway, they’re out now.”
Hamlin figured he must have been away in Canada filming during this ordeal since Rinna’s story didn’t jog any memories for him — and as Rinna mentioned, Delilah, now 27, also had a nipple piercing at one time.
“She was the first to go down that path, but she removed them as well because Amelia’s story was a cautionary tale, and nobody wanted to face a life-threatening situation over a freakin’ nipple ring,” Rinna stated. “And she literally had sepsis! We had to rush her to UCLA for intravenous antibiotics for five days, and then we had a nurse come to the house for two additional days.”
While Rinna described the incident as “very traumatic,” it seems to have convinced both Amelia and Delilah to stop getting piercings (though both have tattoos).
“No more nipple rings and no more piercings, cheers to that!” Rinna joked.
