Mackenzie McKee from Teen Mom Shares News of Twin Pregnancy at Her Mother’s Gravesite
Mackenzie McKee is finding a unique way to honor her late mother, Angie Douthit, during her pregnancy.
In the Thursday, April 24 episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Mackenzie, 30, and her fiancé, Khesanio Hall, visited the cemetery where Angie is laid to rest to share the news that they are expecting twins.
“As we arrived at the grave, I told myself, ‘I can do this. I’ll be strong and let her know I’m pregnant,’” Mackenzie shared in a confessional. “Then I completely broke down. My mother was by my side throughout all three of my pregnancies, and it’s been incredibly hard not being able to call her and tell her it’s twins.”
On March 31, Mackenzie announced on The Drew Barrymore Show that she is pregnant and expecting twins through IVF. The former 16 and Pregnant star is also the mother of Gannon, 13, Jaxie, 10, and Broncs, 7, with ex Josh McKee.
While heading to her mother’s grave, Mackenzie confessed that it had been a long time since her last visit.
“I find it hard to do this. It’s tough,” she said. “My dad has only visited once. He doesn’t go. I think facing it makes it all the more real, and many of us are still struggling with [her death].”
Fortunately, Mackenzie received support from Khesanio, 30, who expressed his eagerness to “meet” Angie.
“She would be so proud of you,” he reassured her, adding that he believes Angie will always be part of their journey. “She’s going to be there.”
Angie passed away in December 2019 after a long battle with cancer, at the age of 50.
Before her passing, she would start each day with an uplifting Instagram post for her followers who watched her health journey on the Teen Mom franchise.
Reflecting at her mother’s gravesite, Mackenzie considered the significant changes in her life since Angie’s death.
“The last time I was here, I was a single mom with three kids, wondering, ‘How will I handle all of this?’” she recalled. “Now, there’s a man who genuinely cares for me and the kids, and we’re expecting twins.”
Mackenzie emphasized her commitment to being a hands-on mother while also prioritizing her own well-being.
“Nothing can truly prepare you for losing a parent, and I hope my kids never have to experience that with me,” she shared. “It’s hard to believe I’m having babies without her.”
