Madonna Gives a Sneak Peek of Her $40M New York City Apartment Wardrobe Tour
Madonna has given her fans a personal glimpse into her extraordinary $40 million New York City apartment.
“Life in my bathroom lately! Also, it’s crucial to read the fine print………..IF YOU WANT IT,” Madonna shared via Instagram on Wednesday, June 18.
The 66-year-old “Material Girl” star treated her Instagram followers to a carousel of photos highlighting her impressive walk-in closet. Madonna showcased everything from chic designer dresses to casual T-shirts, offering a diverse look at her current fashion collection.
The “fine print” referred to in her caption seemed to point to “Mom, I Am a Rich Man” tights by Berlin-based designers Saint Sass, priced at $52. She styled them with a blue T-shirt and cozy slippers. Additionally, the pop icon showcased her custom $100,000 crocodile leather Aupen bag paired with a black-and-silver corset dress, dark tights, and loafers.
In her second slide, Madonna flaunted the Nirvana Deluxe Noir bag from Aupen ($450), matched with a red-and-black cropped Vaquera T-shirt ($402), black track pants, and rounded sunglasses. An all-white satin cover-up over a black bra and silk blouse echoed the aesthetic of Madonna’s iconic 1994 “Bedtime Story” music video.
The German brand Saint Sass seemed elated by Madonna’s mention, replying, “POV: you’re a tiny Berlin brand and suddenly MADONNA wears your tights. We’re crying! This will be a core memory FOREVER.”
Madonna has been opening the doors of her New York apartment to fans on social media recently. In May, she donned her ivory Met Gala suit, designed by Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford, while allowing fashion influencer Lyas to interview her amidst her designer-laden walk-in closet.
While filming racks of outfits by John Galliano, Jean Paul Gaultier, and more, Lyas prompted Madonna to reflect on her experiences attending high-fashion runway shows in Paris during the 1990s.
“Those were the best [days]. They’ll never be like that again,” Madonna reflected. “[Fashion] has changed significantly. I felt cherished attending fashion shows … I miss that deep engagement with culture that was once integral to fashion shows. I don’t think anyone has the luxury to do that anymore.”
When Lyas cheekily asked if it’s “better to be gay to work in fashion,” Madonna responded with her usual humor.
“It’s a must,” she affirmed. “What are you talking about? If you’re not gay and working in fashion, you need to become gay!”
Since relocating from Bay City, Michigan, to New York City in 1978, Madonna has come a long way. Initially, she resided in a spare bedroom before moving to a fourth-floor walk-up apartment in the East Village, all while trying to make a name for herself in the music industry.
Currently, she resides in an opulent $40 million, 13-bedroom Upper East Side mansion, lavishly decorated with iconic artworks by Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Lyas’s recent tour of her home revealed a home office adorned with her Golden Globe Awards and her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction plaque, alongside a framed photo of her with former President Barack Obama in her expansive living room.
