Mandy Moore Opens Up About Her Decision to Stop Having Children

Mandy Moore recently shared her feelings about her family of five being complete with husband Taylor Goldsmith.

“I’m at the OBGYN getting a check up … I am endlessly grateful for my beautiful family AND there’s a certain sadness knowing I’m done having babies and won’t be pregnant again,” Moore, 41, expressed through her Instagram Story on Monday, January 5. “Any other moms feel this way?”

Since their marriage in 2018, Moore and Goldsmith, 40, welcomed their first child, son Gus, in February 2021, followed by son Ozzie in October 2022. Two years later, they welcomed daughter Louise in September 2024.

Almost a year after her daughter’s birth, Moore discussed her experience of “geriatric pregnancy” on Kylie Kelce‘s “Not Gonna Lie” podcast.

“I think at least in my experience, so many of my friends are having kids later in life, whether it’s by choice or circumstance or biology,” the actress shared in July 2025. “The challenge I faced was how the system treats us as anomalies, labeling us too old or high-risk. Really, we’re just human beings.”

The This Is Us alum remarked that the term “geriatric” is an “outdated label” regarding fertility. “The perceptions people have, particularly in my life, stem more from the healthcare system, which often uses a one-size-fits-all approach toward women,” she stated.

In addition to her husband, Moore finds support from fellow moms while raising her three children. She frequently spends time with Hilary Duff, Ashley Tisdale French, and other Hollywood parents — a connection that recently attracted attention.

Earlier this month, French, 40, wrote a personal essay for The Cut titled “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group,” following a previous blog post.

“There’s one recent topic that has sparked immense conversation—a subject that has prompted women to DM me saying ‘I feel seen’ and share their emotional stories,” she wrote. “It’s also attracted online sleuths trying to investigate, which isn’t necessary—whatever assumptions you have are far from reality. The topic? Mom-group drama.”

After welcoming her daughter Jupiter in March 2021, French connected with friends who were also pregnant during the COVID pandemic. (French and her husband, Christopher French, welcomed their second daughter, Emerson, in September 2024.)

Mandy Moore and Taylor Goldsmith proudly share three children and have provided glimpses into their family life since the arrival of baby Gus in 2021. “Gus is here,” Moore wrote on social media in February 2021. “Our sweet boy, August Harrison Goldsmith. He was punctual and arrived […]

Eventually, Ashley began to feel a sense of exclusion. “I remember being left out of a couple of group hangs, and I knew about them because Instagram showed me every photo and Story,” she recalled. “I felt frozen out, noting every way they seemed to exclude me. I told myself it was in my head and not a big deal, but I sensed a growing distance between me and the other group members, who didn’t seem to care that I wasn’t around.”

Ashley took a stand, texting the group that the dynamic felt “too high school” and decided to disengage. “It didn’t exactly go over well,” she admitted.

Following the essay publication, speculation arose online that Ashley might have been referring to her friendships with Moore, Duff, 38, and Meghan Trainor, as they were often seen together with their kids. Reports suggested Ashley unfollowed Moore and Duff on Instagram, fueling the rumors.

A rep for Ashley, however, denied these claims, telling TMZ on Monday that the article was simply meant to highlight the experience of growing distant from a friend group.
