Mary-Louise Parker Spotted on the Red Carpet with Daughter Ash
Mary-Louise Parker made a rare appearance with her daughter, Caroline “Ash” Aberash Parker.
The mother-daughter pair attended the premiere of The Institute during SXSW London 2025 on Thursday, June 5, where they smiled for photos on the red carpet. Mary-Louise, 60, wore a chic powder blue suit, while Ash, 18, opted for an all-black suit complemented by a sparkling shirt beneath.
Mary-Louise adopted Ash from Ethiopia in 2007. She is also the mother of son William Atticus Parker, whom she shares with her ex-partner Billy Crudup.
Though the Weeds star doesn’t often discuss her children, she expressed her affection for Ash during a 2008 interview.
“I can’t adopt 500 children, but I did adopt this one beautiful little girl, and it was an amazing thing,” she shared at the New Yorker Festival. The next year, Mary-Louise referred to her daughter as “a little warrior,” praising Ash as “really amazing.”
As Ash has matured, Mary-Louise has often shared insights into their relationship, calling her daughter one of the “most beautiful women on Earth” in a 2020 interview, and noting how they have become quite alike.
“I once heard Stevie Nicks say that regardless of what happened at night, even if she was stumbling drunk, she always cleaned her face. I have, more than once, urged a friend staying over to do the same,” she told The Bare magazine. “Now my daughter is the same way, and she shares my love for makeup, but prefers to keep it light.”
This outing marked the first occasion since 2019 that Mary-Louise and Ash graced a red carpet together. Back then, the actress was accompanied by both of her children at the David Lynch Foundation’s Women of Vision Awards Benefit Luncheon in New York City.
Thursday’s premiere celebrated the upcoming release of Mary-Louise’s horror thriller The Institute, which will air on MGM+ next month. The series is inspired by the Stephen King novel of the same name.
During the red carpet event, Mary-Louise not only posed with her daughter but also reunited with her co-stars. The series features performances by Ben Barnes, Simone Miller, Joe Freeman, and Fionn Laird, all of whom attended Thursday’s event.
The show follows genius Luke Ellis (Freeman), who wakes up in a place filled with children facing similar extraordinary circumstances. Mary-Louise portrays Ms. Sigsby, who oversees The Institute.
The Institute is set to debut on MGM+ on Sunday, July 13.
