Meghan McCain and Ben Domenech Expecting Their Third Child!
Meghan McCain has revealed that she is expecting her and Ben Domenech’s third child — and they already know the baby’s gender.
In a preview from the upcoming episode of her “Citizen McCain” podcast airing on Wednesday, June 25, McCain shares her exciting news with second lady Usha Vance. The clip was obtained by People.
“I hope you don’t mind. I wanted to share something personal that I haven’t made public yet,” she states. “I have two little girls, nearly 5 and almost 3. I am entering my second trimester; I’m pregnant with my third.”
McCain humorously remarks that this is “a strange way to announce” her family expansion and confesses she’s “very nervous” about baby number three. “It’s a boy,” she reveals. “I’m quite anxious about having a son. And I’m incredibly nervous about managing three children. Very.”
The former cohost of The View and Domenech, 43, have been happily married since 2017. In 2019, McCain disclosed her experience with miscarriage in a New York Times essay.
“Ben and I feel like the luckiest, most blessed people in the world surrounded by love and support,” she shared in an Instagram post in July 2019, expressing her desire to help others “feel less alone” by sharing her story. “None of us are alone in this. I was scared to speak publicly about my experience, but I refuse to let fear dictate my decisions. I will always take the plunge and embrace the unknown.”
During this time, McCain also acknowledged her husband’s unwavering support. “To this man who loves my wild heart and has never tried to change me, who continues to be my strongest source of support and love — I thank God for bringing you into my life every single day, Ben,” she wrote.
The couple welcomed their first daughter, Liberty, in September 2020, followed by Clover in January 2023.
After McCain delivered their second child, Domenech praised her “strength and love for our daughters,” stating to the Daily Mail, “I feel so grateful that both she and Clover are doing well, and I eagerly look forward to our whole family meeting our baby girl.”
Although Meghan’s father, the late John McCain, did not have the chance to see her as a parent, his influence remains present in her expanding family. During a 2022 episode of the “Me Becoming Mom” podcast, Meghan reminisced about how Liberty — born two years after John’s passing in 2018 — has reminded her of her father.
“[Liberty] has this hand gesture that my dad used to do all the time. I don’t do it, so I’m not sure where it comes from, but she continues to do it,” Meghan recounted. “I told my mother-in-law that it gives me chills when she does it because it’s the same tic my dad had with his hands… But I loved my dad and cherish my mother in a way that’s similar to how many people feel about their parents, as they are the ones who raised you. With my father in particular, he was so significant to me in many ways. But with my daughter, it’s simply pure. She’s truly perfect.”
