Melissa Rivers Analyzes the Best and Worst Dressed at the 2025 Emmys (Exclusive)
Like mother, like daughter! As celebrities graced the red carpet at the 2025 Emmy Awards, Melissa Rivers was ready to assess their fashion choices.
A seasoned red carpet commentator in her own right — and the daughter of the late Joan Rivers — she brought her unique mix of high-fashion appreciation and witty critique to an exclusive chat with Us Weekly.
Melissa not only highlighted her favorite looks but also pointed out those that she felt did not quite hit the mark during the event held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 14.
Melissa informed Us that several A-listers stood out, including Leslie Bibb in Armani Privé, Cate Blanchett flaunting a velvet jumpsuit from Armani Privé, and Molly Gordon wearing a striking black and white striped Armani gown. She also praised Katherine LaNasa for her custom strapless cerulean dress from Jason Wu and Selena Gomez in a stunning red Louis Vuitton gown.
On the other hand, she noted that some stars’ outfits fell short. In particular, Jenna Ortega, who dazzled in a jewel-encrusted Givenchy by Sarah Burton, caught Melissa’s attention. “The dress looks stunning on a 5-foot-10 model in ads, but it doesn’t translate well on shorter frames,” she explained to Us.
Melissa also expressed her opinions on some outfits she wasn’t fond of, such as Sarah Paulson’s dramatic feathered dress from Marc Jacobs and Parker Posey’s Valentino gown, which included a sheer cropped cape, furry details, and a ruffled skirt.

The former Fashion Police host observed two dominant trends on the red carpet: vibrant colors and favored designers.
“Selena Gomez nailed the red. Cate Blanchett captured the elegance of black, but the overwhelming trend was Armani, Armani, Armani. Louis Vuitton followed closely behind,” she noted.
Melissa also commended the well-dressed men at the gathering, singling out James Marsden for demonstrating how to perfectly sport a white dinner jacket. She expressed admiration for Sterling K. Brown as well, saying, “He consistently showcases an exceptional sense of style. While I adore the men who experiment with fashion, I still have a fondness for the classics.”
