Melissa Rivers Unveils the Best and Worst Dressed at the 2026 Golden Globes

When discussing red carpet fashion, few opinions hold as much weight — or honesty — as that of Melissa Rivers.

The former star of Fashion Police, 57, offered her candid views on the most and least fashionable attire at the 2026 Golden Globes in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, just one day after the glamorous event at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday, January 11.

Rivers gushed about Emily Blunt wearing Louis Vuitton. “So chic, I could hardly breathe,” she stated to Us. The 42-year-old Quiet Place actress lit up the red carpet in a stunning white dress designed by Jessica Paster, featuring a structured bodice adorned with graceful silver buttons that flowed into a billowing skirt.

Selena Gomez also won Rivers’ admiration in her black Chanel dress, looking flawless “from her hair to her makeup to her jewelry to the dress.” Furthermore, Rivers noted that Gomez, 33, “looking so happy” with her husband, Benny Blanco, only added to her charm. It’s no wonder Gomez stole the spotlight, given that her gown took 323 hours to create.

Also making the best-dressed list was The Housemaid star Amanda Seyfried, 40, who “walked in channeling Grace Kelly” in a stunning Versace couture gown, accented with Tiffany & Co. jewelry. “It was simply beautiful, ethereal, and looked effortless,” Rivers remarked, being captivated by her “movie star” presence.

Rivers noted that Kate Hudson, 46, also dazzled in a breathtaking Giorgio Armani Privé gown embellished with sparkle from Swarovski rhinestones.

The 2026 Golden Globe Awards took center stage, showcasing the biggest names in Hollywood who brought their fashion A-game, from elegant gowns to sharp tailoring. Comedian Nikki Glaser reprised her role as host for this ceremony held on January 11, welcoming Tinseltown’s finest to the glamorous event. “Hosting the Golden Globes this year was an unbelievable experience,” she remarked.

As for the stars who faltered in the fashion department, Rivers confessed to Us that there were a few disappointments. “I hate saying this because I admire her work so much, but Parker Posey,” she admitted. The 57-year-old star of White Lotus arrived in a ruffled Rodarte gown paired with Sabyasachi jewelry.

“I just don’t understand it. I know we’re all quirky, but the abundance of fabric was overwhelming,” Rivers expressed to Us. “I wish someone could clarify the thought process behind this choice.”

Rivers was similarly critical of Jenna Ortega’s outfit. The 23-year-old star of Wednesday wore a black Dilara Findikoglu creation with cutouts and fringe cascading over her shoulders.

“I’m over the goth look, and it feels like every young actress is adopting it, so I see Jenna and her goth followers,” she remarked. “There are so many other younger actresses who seem to be leaning into this goth vibe.”

When asked about host Nikki Glaser’s different outfits, Rivers appreciated the bright red dress as well as the embellished pink gown she donned for the occasion.

The 2026 Golden Globes showcased the hottest stars from TV and film on January 11. For a second consecutive year, comedian Nikki Glaser hosted the esteemed awards show. Last year, she became the first woman to host it solo. “Hosting the Golden Globes this year was truly an unbelievable experience,” she shared.

Glaser, alongside her team of styling duo Dani + Emma, makeup artist Trace Watkins, and hair stylist Christina Meneses, disclosed to InStyle prior to the event that they aimed to present their best — stating Glaser planned to wear a total of nine outfits during the ceremony.

“We ensured we had the right team to handle this level of glamour,” Glaser, 41, stated. “I had certainly never been on such a big stage before until last year, so we all needed to elevate our game.”

Rivers observed a recurring style trend — or more accurately, a color scheme — that she noted on the carpet.

“It was all about black and white, and black and white,” she joked. “Black and white, all black, all white, white on top, black on the bottom, black on top with white below.”
