Mick Jagger and Melanie Hamrick Make an Appearance at the British Museum Ball

Mick Jagger and Melanie Hamrick enjoyed an entertaining evening in the city!

On Saturday, October 18, Jagger, 82, and his fiancée Hamrick, 38, made a rare appearance at the British Museum Ball in London. The couple radiated joy while walking the red carpet and posing for pictures. The Rolling Stones frontman sported a blue and black jacket for the event, while Hamrick dazzled in a golden gown embellished with floral designs.

In an exclusive interview with Us back in May, Hamrick shared several key reasons why she and Jagger prefer to keep their relationship private, with the main one being the need to protect it. She likened this decision to her experiences as a professional ballet dancer.

“I think family is very personal, and it’s like a bubble,” she stated. “It’s lovely to share certain things, but similar to ballet: there needs to be some mystery, or people will lose interest.”

In April, Hamrick confirmed to Paris Match that she and Jagger are engaged, revealing that the rock star proposed “two or three years ago,” even though they didn’t widely publicize the news.

“Perhaps one day we’ll tie the knot, or maybe not,” Hamrick remarked. “We are incredibly happy with our current lives, and I would be too anxious to change anything.”

The couple first crossed paths in 2014 in Tokyo, where Hamrick was performing with the American Ballet Theatre and the Rolling Stones were on stage. They began dating in 2015, instantly attracting attention due to their 44-year age difference.

“I don’t dwell on it. People will always have their views. If you concern yourself with others’ opinions, regardless of where you are in life, you’ll face difficulties and overthink,” Hamrick explained to The Sunday Times in September 2024. “I focus on my happiness. Am I happy? Yes. Are the people in my life content? Yes. Am I causing harm? No. Okay, they can mind their own matters.”

Hamrick also revealed she wasn’t particularly starstruck by Jagger when they met. “Ballet dancers encounter some of the biggest celebrities and often act nonchalant, like, ‘Who are you?’ To us, ballet dancers are the icons. That’s who you study and idolize. You become so engrossed in your world,” Hamrick elaborated.

Even though they haven’t exchanged vows yet, the couple has made other commitments to each other. Their son Deveraux—Jagger’s eighth child and Hamrick’s first—joined their family in December 2016.

“Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger’s son was born today in New York, and they are both thrilled,” Jagger’s spokesperson stated to Us Weekly at the time. “Mick was present at the hospital for the delivery. Mother and child are doing well, and we kindly ask the media to respect their privacy during this time.”

The rocker also has a daughter, Karis, 54, with ex Marsha Hunt; a daughter, Jade, 53, with ex-wife Bianca Jagger; daughters Elizabeth, 41, and Georgia May, 33, and sons James, 40, and Gabriel, 27, with ex Jerry Hall; as well as son Lucas, 26, with ex Luciana Gimenez. He also has four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
