Mikayla Matthews from Mormon Wives Explains Her Decision to Remove Lip Filler
Mikayla Matthews has bid farewell to her full lips.
The star of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, 25, recently disclosed that she dissolved the remaining lip filler to support her immune system. Matthews took to TikTok on Monday, January 5, stating, “I dissolved them a while ago and haven’t had any filler since, but there’s still a little bit [of filler] up here and a tiny bit here.” She gestured towards her cupid’s bow and bottom lip.
“Every time I break out in hives, it’s typically around my lips,” Matthews explained to her injector as they numbed her lips. “My lips tend to swell significantly.”
“They always swell due to my health and allergies, but I just want to dissolve whatever’s left so my immune system might relax a bit,” she added.
The reality star, who has been vocal about her struggles with chronic illness, mentioned that she received laughing gas before the dissolver was applied. “This helps a lot,” she remarked.
The injector then proceeded with the solvent, making Matthews tear up from the discomfort. “Never do anything without laughing gas,” she advised her followers as she left the office.
She later shared her appearance “immediately after” the filler was dissolved, revealing her slightly swollen lips.
Matthews then cut to the camera to show her progress “a few hours later.”
“I feel like the swelling has decreased,” she commented. “The numbing effect has faded, so it feels cold,” she described. The following day, Matthews updated her fans, showing the “minor bruising” on her top and bottom lips.
Two days later, Matthews candidly expressed how “strange” her lips felt without any filler. “Overall, I love the results. I think it looks fantastic.”
In her final clip, Matthews showcased her completely dissolved lips with just a hint of lip liner and gloss.

In September 2024, Matthews exclusively spoke with Us Weekly about her chronic illness, revealing that she still hadn’t “discovered any answers.”
“I’m still undergoing more tests. I just had a biopsy yesterday. I plan to visit a cancer institute for further testing on various blood cancers,” she shared. Matthews continued, “I’m doing much better than before, but I still face ups and downs, so it’s discouraging not to get any answers while navigating this exciting period without feeling my best. That’s the toughest part.”
