Miranda and Steve: A Timeline of Their Relationship in ‘Sex and the City’
Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon) and Steve Brady (David Eigenberg) experienced a tumultuous romance before ultimately reconnecting in the final season of Sex and the City.
Their chemistry first ignited when Steve, appearing as Miranda’s bartender, made his debut in a 1999 episode of the beloved HBO series. After a series of ups and downs, the couple welcomed their son, Brady, and the following year, they reignited their love and got married.
The first Sex and the City film added complexity to their relationship, as Steve confessed to cheating on Miranda. With encouragement from Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda chose to seek therapy and committed to growing together with Steve.
Prior to the release of And Just Like That on HBO Max in December 2021, Eigenberg revealed his apprehensions about reprising the role of Miranda’s husband.
“It’s been almost 20 years since the original show,” the Chicago Fire star shared exclusively with Us Weekly at the premiere of the revival in New York City. “I’m typically an in-and-out guy. I mentioned that on Sex and the City! I pop in and pop out, so finding my rhythm was a bit of a challenge. But it was enjoyable; we easily adapted back into our roles. It’s always a pleasure to see familiar faces.”
