Morgan Wallen Launches ‘God’s Country’ Merchandise Following ‘SNL’ Walk-Out

After leaving Saturday Night Live early amidst some controversy to head back to “God’s country,” Morgan Wallen has now expanded his viral catchphrase into a new line of merchandise.

The 31-year-old country music star announced through Instagram on Tuesday, April 2, that he is launching hats and t-shirts featuring the slogan “Get Me to God’s country,” available on his official website.

In an Instagram post from “Club Wallen,” an official fan hub for all things Morgan Wallen, he shared a message that read, “Get me to God’s country ✈️ shop.morganwallen.com.” This seemingly referenced an Instagram Story he posted after his musical guest appearance on SNL on Saturday, March 29.

The “Smile” singer raised questions when he appeared to leave the stage without delay, walking past cameras before the end credits rolled. Typically, hosts and musical guests remain on stage during credits to chat with cast members.

The Story also included an image of a private jet, suggesting he was ready to depart New York City and return to Tennessee, where he resides in Nashville and spent his childhood in Sneedville.

Wallen’s new merchandise includes two blue and white hats along with a plain white t-shirt, both emblazoned with the musician’s now-famous catchphrase.

Wallen’s appearance on the late-night show stirred debates beyond his untimely exit. Variety reported that he declined to participate in a musical sketch called “Big Dumb Line” during the episode hosted by Mikey Madison.

The sketch featured Madison, 26, along with Chloe Fineman and Bowen Yang singing about the phenomenon in New York City of waiting in line for hours. Variety noted that a part of the pop song was specifically written for Wallen, but Joe Jonas ended up stepping in to perform it.

Wallen’s history with SNL dates back to October 2020 when he was disinvited from performing after footage surfaced of him partying at the University of Alabama during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’m in New York City, in a hotel room. I was preparing for SNL this Saturday when I got a call from the show notifying me that I would no longer be able to perform,” Wallen said in an Instagram video at that time. “That’s due to COVID protocols, which I completely understand. While I’m not positive for COVID, my actions this past weekend were pretty reckless and have obviously impacted my long-term goals and dreams.”

Just months later, Wallen made his SNL debut, although the disinvitation was addressed in a sketch.

“I am you from the future, and I came to prevent you from partying tonight,” Jason Bateman’s character told Wallen in a skit. “Trust me, someone’s going to post a video of you ignoring COVID protocols, and the whole internet’s going to react. … Once the party is known, you’re in serious trouble, man. You’re going to get kicked off Saturday Night Live.”

In February 2021, Wallen became the subject of a Weekend Update joke following the emergence of a video where he used a racial slur. In the segment, co-host Michael Che provided context, mentioning that Wallen’s record label had suspended his contract.

He later issued an apology for the racial incident through a YouTube video shared that same month. “I let so many people down,” he expressed. “I let my parents down, who are far from the person in that video. I let my son down, and I’m not at peace with that.”
