Ms. Rachel Shares the Inspiration Behind Her Infant Daughter’s Name
Renowned children’s TV personality Ms. Rachel is sharing details on the inspiration behind her infant daughter’s name.
“She’s named after my wonderful mama!” the 42-year-old YouTube sensation revealed about her daughter Susannah’s name in an Today interview published on Wednesday, April 30. “My mom raised us with immense love and happiness. She brought up my sister and me as a single mom. I’ve always admired her strength.”
She added, “She even built an amazing tree house all by herself!”
Known as Rachel Griffin-Accurso, Ms. Rachel announced the arrival of her second child with husband Aron Accurso via surrogate on April 8.
“Sometimes the timing is unexpected, and the journey can be bumpier than anticipated, but when you hold your little ones, you realize… I’m meant to be your mama,” the parenting influencer wrote while announcing her daughter’s arrival. “Due to medical reasons, I was unable to carry this pregnancy, but we felt blessed to have a surrogate who gifted us the most beautiful present. We are now family forever. We are filled with gratitude and share a strong bond. It’s been a truly wonderful experience, and I’m in awe of her.”
Ms. Rachel also expressed her appreciation for her husband, calling him “the best husband and dada!”
A few days later, the proud mom shared another photo of Susannah and herself, both clad in Ms. Rachel’s beloved uniform.
“CAN YOU SAY MAMA? 💕” she wrote in the caption.
Officially, Ms. Rachel often calls her mom “Nana Hannah,” crediting her for the motivation to launch her successful YouTube channel after becoming a mother and recognizing a gap in resources for parents of children with speech delays.
“She’s simply amazing,” she mentioned to Drew Barrymore during a guest appearance on the Drew Barrymore Show. “She would think of a goal and achieve it. She worked in a daycare during the week, and as a waitress at Pizza Hut on weekends. She went back to school to earn her Masters—seeing all of that was extraordinary as a child. I thought, ‘I can do anything.’”
Alongside Susannah, Ms. Rachel and Aron are also the proud parents of 7-year-old Thomas, who has been a tremendous help in caring for his baby sister.
Ms. Rachel told Today that both Thomas and Aron enjoy performing new material for Susannah, and Thomas has even volunteered to change a few diapers.
“He said he’ll help with everything but poopy diapers,” she shared. “I totally understand.”
Ms. Rachel described her first three weeks as a mom of two as “beautiful, joyful, and incredibly exhausting.”
