Nate Bargatze Named Host of the 2025 Emmy Awards: Key Details to Know
Nate Bargatze is eagerly anticipating his role as the host of the 77th annual Emmy Awards this year.
Having previously collaborated with CBS for his holiday special Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas in 2024, Variety has announced that the stand-up comedian will be hosting the 2025 Emmys.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be asked to host such a legendary awards show, and I’m incredibly excited to partner with CBS to create a night that families everywhere can enjoy,” Bargatze expressed in a statement to Variety.
Additionally, Television Academy chair Cris Abrego shared his enthusiasm regarding Bargatze as the host of the annual Emmy celebration.
“Nate is one of the most sought-after comics in the industry with a unique and hilarious style of comedy that resonates with audiences of all ages globally,” Abrego stated. “We are excited to utilize his distinct perspective to entertain TV viewers during this year’s Emmy broadcast.”
Although nominations are yet to be announced, last year the FX series Shōgun garnered the most Emmy Awards, securing 18 wins and making history as the highest-winning show in a single season.

Who Is Hosting the 2025 Emmys?
Bargatze will take on the hosting duties for the 77th annual Emmy Awards. While this marks his debut as the host of this prestigious awards show, it is far from his first hosting experience. Bargatze hosted Saturday Night Live in both 2023 and 2024, which he credits with significantly boosting his stand-up career.
“SNL has really helped me in many ways,” he told People in February 2025. “I owe a lot of my success to SNL and [creator] Lorne [Michaels].

The Emmys will be broadcast live on CBS from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 14, at 8 p.m. ET.
When Will the 2025 Emmys Nominations Be Released?
