NCIS: Exploring Tony and Ziva’s Journey in the Spinoff Series
Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo are set to reprise their beloved roles in an exciting new spinoff, titled NCIS: Tony & Ziva.
The announcement about the new series came from Paramount+ in February 2024, officially confirming the return of both Weatherly and de Pablo. Weatherly portrayed Tony DiNozzo in the military drama for seasons 1 through 13, whereas de Pablo played Ziva David from season 3 until her departure in season 11.
During her time on NCIS, Ziva was thought to be deceased following de Pablo’s exit in season 11. Two seasons later, Tony chose to leave his position at the agency to prioritize raising their daughter, Tali. Nevertheless, by season 16, it was uncovered that Ziva was still alive, prompting de Pablo to return. Both actors made brief appearances on NCIS after that pivotal moment.
In a statement made in February, the duo expressed excitement, saying, “We’ve been discussing this story for a long time, and now, with [executive producer] John McNamara leading the charge, we feel ready. The narrative revolving around Tony and Ziva (along with their daughter Tali) is set to be an exhilarating journey filled with passion, peril, emotions, and humor.”
The NCIS franchise continues to expand, boasting seven existing or former shows alongside a new one launching in 2025. While many fans may assume that the naval intelligence series began with NCIS, it actually originated from JAG, which first aired on NBC in 1995.
Weatherly and de Pablo expressed their desire to use their new show as an opportunity to “recognize and appreciate the global fanbase” that has supported their characters since the beginning and beyond their individual departures.
“Even now, people greet us in supermarkets and on the streets to express how much these characters mean to them and inquire about Tony and Ziva’s current lives. This project is dedicated to you!” they shared.

What is ‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva’ About?
The storyline follows Tony and Ziva as they navigate parenting their daughter while dealing with an attack on Tony’s security firm. The couple must uncover the culprit targeting their family and find a way to stay safe in Europe.
“I anticipate suspense, romance, the beautiful backdrop of Europe, and challenging scenarios that complicate our lives—but ultimately a bit about love,” de Pablo shared in a May 2024 Instagram video.
Who Is in the ‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva’ Cast?
When the project was initially announced, Weatherly and de Pablo were the only confirmed names. In addition to leading the cast, they will also serve as executive producers.
By July 2024, the network disclosed the complete cast, featuring Isla Gie as Tali, Tony and Ziva’s 12-year-old daughter. Amita Suman will portray Claudette, the chief technical officer at Tony’s security firm. Maximilian Osinski has been cast as Boris, a Russian ex-pat and computer hacker, and Nassima Benchicou will play Martine, a former French intelligence officer.
Julian Ovenden will take on the role of Jonah, a former NSA computer programmer currently serving as the Secretary General of Interpol. Additionally, Terence Maynard will star as therapist Dr. Lang, and Lara Rossi will play Tali’s caretaker, Sophie. James D’Arcy will complete the cast as Interpol official Henry.
When Does ‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva’ Start Filming?
In May 2024, Weatherly announced they were planning to begin production in the summer, with filming set to take place in Budapest.
“I’ll see you in Europe, chérie,” de Pablo playfully remarked to Weatherly in an Instagram video.
By July 2024, Paramount+ confirmed that filming had officially commenced, with production concluding in January 2025.

What Is the ‘Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch’ Podcast About?
De Pablo and Weatherly are set to cohost a video podcast named “Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch” on Spotify prior to the launch of their new spinoff, as reported by TVLine in May 2024.
The podcast is scheduled to premiere on June 4, 2024, featuring guest appearances from their former NCIS co-stars, such as Sean Murray and Sasha Alexander. Alumni from NCIS: Los Angeles including Eric Christian Olsen and Daniela Ruah are also expected to appear, alongside NCIS guest stars like Jon Cryer.
When Will ‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva’ Premiere?
While the exact premiere date is yet to be determined, TVLine has confirmed that NCIS: Tony & Ziva is slated to debut this fall as a Paramount+ exclusive.
