Netflix’s Quarterback Season 2 Trailer: Joe Burrow Discusses Robbery Incident
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s off-field events will be explored in season 2 of Netflix’s Quarterback.
In the trailer, released on June 23, headlines flash across the screen regarding the robbery at Burrow’s Ohio residence in December 2024.
A clip from ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show states, “Somebody attempted to break into Joe Burrow’s house.”
The burglary took place while Burrow and the Bengals were in Texas for a game against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football.
The rumored girlfriend, model Olivia Ponton, was present at the home during the break-in and was the one who contacted the police.
In January, four suspects were apprehended in connection with the robbery.
A criminal complaint acquired by CNN reveals that the suspects were stopped for a traffic violation when officers discovered “an old LSU shirt and Bengals hat, believed to be stolen from the December 9, 2024 burglary in Hamilton County.”
All four men pleaded not guilty to charges of participating in a criminal gang, engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, obstructing official business, and possessing criminal tools.
In February, the same group was also charged with a series of robberies targeting athletes including Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.
In another segment of the Quarterback trailer, Burrow, 28, shares that his life is “not normal” and talks about his recent acquisition of a $3 million replica Batmobile.
“I’m excited about that,” Burrow comments.
The quarterback, drafted as the No. 1 pick by the Bengals in 2020, candidly discusses the pressures he faces.
“You only have so many seasons,” Burrow states in the trailer. “At the beginning of your career, you think, ‘I’m going to play for 15, 20 years.’ It feels like a long time. Then you blink, and it’s year five. The next time you blink, it’ll be year 10.”
He continues, “Now, where we stand, the greats find a way to make it work.”
Season 2 of Quarterback will also feature the Detroit Lions’ Jared Goff, who was traded to Detroit in 2021 after spending his initial five seasons with the Los Angeles Rams.
“Many in my previous organization may have thought I was being overlooked, but I recognized that the opportunity here was extraordinary,” Goff, 30, shares in the trailer.
Goff adds, “This is what it feels like to truly be valued.”
Season 2 of Quarterback also follows the Atlanta Falcons’ Kirk Cousins, who appeared in season one while playing for the Minnesota Vikings, alongside Kansas City Chiefs’ Mahomes and then Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota.
Season 2 of Quarterback premieres on July 8 on Netflix.
