New Family Photo of Tatiana Schlossberg Released Following Her Passing

A recent photograph of Tatiana Schlossberg was shared just a week after her passing at the age of 35.

“As we honor Tatiana and commemorate her life, our thoughts are with her family and all who cherished her,” stated the caption of an Instagram post from the JFK Library Foundation on Monday, January 5.

In the image, Schlossberg is seen smiling warmly while sitting on the grass next to her husband, George Moran, and their two children: son Edwin, aged 3, and daughter Josephine, who is 18 months old. Notably, Schlossberg’s hair was quite short, likely due to her cancer treatments.

The photograph was reportedly captured in September 2025 on Martha’s Vineyard.

Environmental journalist Tatiana Schlossberg announced her terminal cancer diagnosis in November 2025. The granddaughter of the late President John F. Kennedy and former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Tatiana disclosed in an essay for The New Yorker that she was facing acute myeloid leukemia, and the prognosis gave her a year to live […]

A second slide in the social media post included a quote from Schlossberg’s book Inconspicuous Consumption, discussing people’s “obligations” toward “the planet, to each other, and to future generations who will inherit a world altered from ours over the past 10,000 years.”

“Essentially what I’m describing is hard work with potentially limited success for the rest of your life,” the quote continued. “But we must do it, and at the very least, we will have the comfort of knowing we contributed positively.”

Schlossberg — daughter of Caroline Kennedy and granddaughter of John F. Kennedy — revealed her acute myeloid leukemia diagnosis in November 2025, over a year after welcoming her daughter.

“I did not — could not — believe they were talking about me,” she recalled in her essay for The New Yorker as she reflected on her diagnosis. “I had just swum a mile the day before, nine months pregnant. I felt healthy. I didn’t consider myself sick. I had a son whom I loved dearly and a newborn to care for.”

Schlossberg underwent a clinical trial for CAR-T-cell therapy before discovering her cancer was terminal. She passed away on December 30, 2025.

While reflecting on her health journey, Schlossberg shared her primary concern for her children.

“My son may hold a few memories, but he might mix them up with pictures he sees or stories he hears,” she wrote in her November 2025 essay. “I couldn’t fully care for my daughter — I couldn’t change her diaper or bathe her or feed her, all due to the infection risks after my transplants. I was away for nearly half of her first year. I wonder who she truly thinks I am and if she will remember, after I’m gone, that I am her mother.”

She went on to express her gratitude towards her husband, who “did everything in his power to support me” during her illness.

“I know not everyone is married to a doctor, but if you are, it’s greatly beneficial,” she added. “He is incredible, and I feel immensely robbed and deeply saddened that I cannot continue living the wonderful life I shared with this kind, funny, brilliant man I was fortunate to marry.”

Tatiana is survived by her husband and children, and her mother Caroline, father Edwin Schlossberg, and siblings Jack and Rose.
