Nick Viall’s Wife Natalie Joy Suffered Her Third Miscarriage This Year
Nick Viall’s wife Natalie Joy is recovering after suffering another miscarriage, marking the couple’s third this year.
Viall, 44, began the Thursday, August 14, episode of his “The Viall Files” podcast by addressing Joy’s absence as she heals from their latest pregnancy loss.
“As you can see, Natalie is not with us. There’s no easy way to talk about this. … Sadly, Natalie experienced another miscarriage,” the former Bachelor shared. “It’s her third this year, our third this year. There’s really no easy way to say it — it f***ing sucks. She’s obviously at home resting and healing, both physically and emotionally.”
Viall continued, “We want to be honest with you all, and of course, Natalie is such a significant part of the show. My partner in life and on the show, and when she’s absent, people notice, so we wanted to be transparent.”
The podcaster described this as a “bit of a scary time” for him and Joy, 26, especially after experiencing two previous miscarriages this year. “It’s far less common to have two or three [miscarriages] in a row,” he elaborated. “Now we’re kind of in this daunting process of running tests and discovering more about ourselves, and it’s this contradictory situation where you want them to find something, but you also don’t want them to find anything. … We’re navigating very uncharted territory.”
Viall reassured listeners that Joy is “doing OK physically and healing,” but the emotional impact of their recent loss has been challenging for both of them.
“It’s been a whirlwind, and we’re trying to navigate this as a family. Part of the challenge is still appreciating what we have, especially our daughter River, and moving forward,” Viall stated, referring to their 18-month-old daughter River Rose. “It’s all very confusing how one is supposed to grieve in situations like this … but we truly appreciate your support.”
In March, Joy spoke about her second miscarriage, which she revealed occurred just two months after her first.
“While grieving the loss of our second baby at the start of this year, I unexpectedly found out I was pregnant again,” Joy wrote in an Instagram Stories post. “It took me some time to come to terms with what had happened only to be presented with another chance so quickly.”
“Eventually, I found immense happiness,” Joy shared, reflecting on how she Coped with her first pregnancy loss. “We were finally in a state of complete gratitude. [Then], this past week, I miscarried again. I underwent a D&C this time, which was more challenging than I had anticipated.”
