Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis Star in Scarpetta: Cast and Plot Insights

Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis are set to portray the iconic Scarpetta sisters in an upcoming TV series.

Based on the beloved novels by Patricia Cornwell, Scarpetta tells the story of two sisters, Kay and Dorothy — with Kay serving as a medical examiner who solves crimes.

Curtis came on board as an executive producer for the series in June 2021 during its early development stages. Fast forward two years, it was announced that Curtis would co-star with Kidman, who is set to take on the role of the esteemed crime solver.

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly in May 2025, Curtis recounted how she first connected with Kidman at the Oscars and discovered the project after their initial encounter.

“She introduced herself to me, and we exchanged greetings along with some genuine bonding,” said Curtis to Us. “Afterward, I thought, ‘Wow, that was something.’ Then six months later, she learned about the Scarpetta show and that I was producing, and she essentially said, ‘I want to be Scarpetta.’ When I replied, ‘Great,’ she asked, ‘But you’ll be in it with me, right?’”

Curtis confessed that acting in Scarpetta hadn’t been on her radar initially, but her perspective changed after Kidman’s invitation.

“In that moment, I was like, ‘Yes, Nicole Kidman. Absolutely. I’m going to be on a show with you!’ I had no choice,” she joked. “I had intended to produce, but right then it was decided that I’d be acting in the show.”
