Nicole Young Departs Selling Sunset Amid ‘Toxic’ Environment
Nicole Young is departing from Selling Sunset after four seasons with the Netflix series.
Her representative confirmed to People on Friday, March 20, that the 40-year-old real estate agent is leaving the reality show due to her “disheartening” depiction.
“Nicole was consistently placed in situations that forced her to be defensive, often in what can be described as unnecessarily toxic and overly dramatic circumstances,” her rep stated, asserting that Nicole often defended “her character and her intentions.”
“She felt she was no longer being portrayed authentically,” the spokesperson added. “[This decision] is entirely Nicole’s own to step away from the show in season 9.”
Her representative also clarified that Nicole’s recent relocation to Nashville was not a factor in her decision to exit the show, but did indicate it “signaled the end of her time” on Selling Sunset.
In a further statement to Us Weekly, Young expressed about her departure, “I’m absolutely enjoying life in Nashville and couldn’t be happier with this new chapter. I am grateful for my time on Selling Sunset and all it brought into my life, but it was the right moment to close that door. I’m excited about what’s ahead; this is definitely not the last you’ll see of me.”
This past season, viewers witnessed her conflict with Chrishell Stause, which began when Nicole joined in season 6. Nicole alleged that Chrishell, 44, only secured house listings because their boss Jason Oppenheim had feelings for her.
Chrishell, who had a brief relationship with Jason in 2021, denied Nicole’s accusations and claimed that Nicole was under the influence of drugs during a group dinner, which Nicole also refuted. Chrishell later tried to mend their relationship, but Nicole didn’t apologize for her previous remarks.
In season 7, Nicole reignited rumors that Emma Hernan was allegedly involved with a married man. Following this, Chrishell opted not to work with Nicole, leading to her filming schedule being paused.
“I spoke with production two days ago, and they confirmed that I have absolutely not been fired from the cast, but they decided to pause my filming schedule until next week to protect me from increasingly contentious situations on set,” Nicole told Us Weekly in a January 2025 statement.
The pair reunited during the season 7 reunion, where Chrishell expressed that she “hates” Nicole. Nicole subsequently took to social media to state that she “apologized” to Chrishell, although she claimed it wasn’t aired.
When season 8 debuted, Chrishell announced via Instagram that she would “never” collaborate with Nicole again. Both women starred in season 9 but continued to clash.
For her part, Chrishell announced her departure from the show in November 2025.
