Olivia Culpo, Julianne Hough, and Others Confronting Endometriosis
Olivia Culpo, Julianne Hough, and numerous other celebrities are leading the charge for women’s health, particularly highlighting endometriosis.
Endometriosis is characterized by abnormal tissue growth in and around the uterus and ranks among the top causes of infertility in women. As reported by UCLA Health, it affects approximately 1 in 10 women and often takes years to diagnose, leaving many women unaware of their condition until their 30s or 40s.
In spite of the stigma associated with the condition, advocates like Culpo and Hough openly share their experiences. In August 2020, Culpo encouraged others to take endometriosis and women’s pain “seriously.”
“I’ve never talked about this publicly before, but I have endometriosis,” she revealed in an Instagram Story, describing her “excruciatingly painful” ordeal. “It’s crucial to visit your doctor if you’re experiencing painful periods. Painful periods are not something to ignore. You need to ensure everything is alright if you’re considering getting pregnant. You can’t afford to wait too long, so I urge everyone to take this matter seriously.”
