Olivia Culpo Sacrifices Her Hair to Protect ‘Baby’ from Coyotes
Olivia Culpo is utilizing remnants of her hair to deter wild coyotes from approaching her pet dog.
On Sunday, March 8, Culpo, 33, took to her Instagram Stories to share her experience, revealing that she saved strands from her recent haircut to combat threats lurking around her California residence.
“I asked if I could take the hair we cut to sprinkle along my fence line to scare away the coyotes,” she wrote over a photo showing her hair in a small plastic bag. “This is the level of insane dog mom I am, but by the way, it works! The coyotes are everywhere and hungry.”
In another Instagram Story, she shared footage of a coyote lurking at her glass fence, peering into her backyard. Culpo captioned it, “This video honestly still haunts me. A cute but hungry coyote … trying to eat my baby. And during the day.”
Culpo is a proud fur mom to Oliver Sprinkles, an adopted Goldendoodle she took in with her husband, NFL player Christian McCaffrey. The couple also has a human daughter, Colette, who is 8 months old.
Culpo also posted clips of herself spreading her hair around the property. “Yesterday I heard some rustling over here … not anymore. Coyotes, be gone,” she told her followers in the clip.
According to Human Material Loop, an organization committed to sustainable innovation, “human hair has been used for centuries to ward off animals and manage pests in various ways.”
A dedicated mom to Oliver Sprinkles, Culpo created an Instagram account for her pup, which has garnered over 30,000 followers. Before giving birth to her daughter, she posted in June 2025, showing McCaffrey, 29, lovingly looking at the dog while holding it on their back deck.
Another image showed the athlete cradling Oliver Sprinkles in his lap on a plane.
Culpo recently shared with Us Weekly her thoughts on how her San Francisco 49ers star husband is adapting to fatherhood. “I always knew he would be a really good dad because he’s a really good person,” Culpo told Us in January. “He has a great example because his parents are wonderful.”
She added, “He will be such a wonderful example and protector for her. I know that she’ll always feel loved more than anything. Everyone deserves to feel that.”
Culpo clearly adores her little one, sharing a series of infant onesies on Instagram that support the 49ers during the last NFL season. Some of the tiny outfits even featured McCaffrey’s jersey number, 23, on the back.
