Olivia Munn Reveals She Projected Vomit After Eating Sushi in a Bath

Olivia Munn didn’t have the most pleasant experience when she attempted to blend bathtime and dinnertime.

The Your Friends & Neighbors actress, 45, shared one of her most embarrassing cooking mishaps while guest hosting Today With Jenna & Friends on Tuesday, November 18. She openly told cohost Jenna Bush Hager that “one of the grossest things” she ever did happened while she was working in Vancouver a few years back.

“I can’t believe I’m saying this right now,” she started hesitantly. “Oh no! I’ve already started [telling the story].”

Munn explained that her questionable culinary choice stemmed from being “really tired” while she was “working.”

Jenna Bush Hager’s latest personal confessional will have you packing the sunscreen. During the Tuesday, June 17, episode of Today With Jenna and Friends, the talk show host and her guest cohost, Leslie Bibb, discussed going topless while on vacation. “I once went to a topless beach — I might’ve already said this, which is […]

“I was staying at the Shangri-La in Vancouver, and their sushi is fantastic,” she recalled. “I needed to take a bath, and I was also hungry. So, I set the sushi next to the bathtub. I started the bath, got distracted, and when I came back, I was in the bath and began eating the sushi.”

While enjoying sushi in a luxurious hotel bath might sound indulgent, the combination didn’t work well for Munn.

“The next day, I had food poisoning. I was at the airport gift shop, just [projectile vomiting] into the trash can from a distance,” she confessed.

Munn later realized that the warmth of her bathwater likely warmed up her sushi.

“Sushi is definitely not meant to be heated by bathwater,” she noted. “It didn’t taste heated; it was still cold.”

Munn humorously added: “I regret telling that story.”

The Newsroom alum shared with Bush Hager that, despite her sushi nightmare, the incident didn’t deter her from enjoying baths.

“I love a bath. I need a bath,” she expressed. “It’s such peaceful time. I can just relax.”

Munn made this embarrassing revelation during her weeklong guest hosting of Today With Jenna & Friends, starting Monday, November 17, and concluding Friday, November 21.

The former Daily Show correspondent had previously cohosted Today With Jenna & Friends in March, after Hoda Kotb stepped down as a regular host on the NBC morning show in January. Munn made a strong impression by discussing her marriage to comedian John Mulaney and parenting their two children: son Malcolm Hiệp, 3, and daughter Méi June, 14 months.

During that earlier stint on Today, Munn made headlines for her criticism of Katy Perry, CBS Mornings host Gayle King, and Lauren Sánchez, who participated in the Jeff Bezos-funded Blue Origin space flight in April 2025. (The all-female crew spent just over 10 minutes in orbit before coming back to Earth.)

“I know this might not be the popular opinion, but there are so many other pressing issues in the world right now,” Munn remarked on Today With Jenna and Friends back then. “What’s the point of going up in space? What are you going to accomplish up there?”

Gayle King openly admitted she’s a bit confused about packing for a trip to space. “I’m winging it,” King, 70, told Us Weekly on Saturday, April 5, while attending The 11th Breakthrough Prize ceremony, a gala honoring renowned science and mathematics figures. “I’m getting ready. I’m now putting my bag together. […]

She pointed out that the optics of the space flight weren’t ideal since many Americans “can’t even afford eggs.”

“What’s the point? Is it historic that you guys are going on a ride? I think it’s somewhat gluttonous,” Munn stated. “Space exploration was meant to enhance our knowledge and aid humanity. What are you going to achieve up there that benefits us down here?”

Today With Jenna & Friends airs Mondays through Fridays at 10 a.m. ET on NBC.
