Pedro Pascal Addresses Viral Coffee Order: ‘It’s a Violation’
Pedro Pascal has opened up about his surprising coffee order that recently went viral.
The Last of Us actor, 49, made headlines in March 2023 when a fan greeting video at Starbucks accidentally showcased his morning coffee selection. The label on Pascal’s venti cup indicated that he requested an iced quad espresso with added ice and six shots of espresso. (Typically, a single shot of espresso contains about 63-64 milligrams of caffeine.)
Comedian Jimmy Kimmel couldn’t resist mentioning Pascal’s famous order during the episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live on March 24, which was Pascal’s first appearance on the show in nearly a decade.
“That’s quite a wild order, by the way,” Kimmel remarked while showing a close-up image of Pascal’s coffee label.
A slightly embarrassed Pascal chuckled, saying, “I can’t even begin to explain how violating this feels!”
The actor then provided insight into why he starts his day with such a hefty dose of caffeine.
“There’s a lot of background as to why it turned into six shots of espresso,” the actor explained. “Initially, I only went for a quad, but I think the cups grew larger, and I don’t know, the shots became less potent. Eventually, it escalated to six.”
Pascal further shared, “It was a deeply personal morning habit that I never intended for anyone to find out.”
The Mandalorian star mentioned that he doesn’t consume any more coffee for the rest of the day, prompting Kimmel to joke, “At this point, this isn’t even coffee—this is a methaccino!”
“You sip it and suddenly feel euphoric, then you tackle emails and stuff,” Pascal explained regarding his morning routine.
When his coffee order went viral two years ago, it drew a mix of awe and concern. With six espresso shots, his venti beverage contains approximately 380 milligrams of caffeine. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommends that adults limit their intake to around 400 milligrams per day.
