Penn Badgley’s Heartfelt Quotes on Fatherhood and Parenting with Domino Kirke
Penn Badgley and his wife Domino Kirke celebrated the arrival of their first child together during the coronavirus pandemic, appreciating the intimate moments they shared while in lockdown with their newborn.
“The greatest gift we received was our son,” the You star shared during an October 2021 appearance on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show. “I also have a 12-year-old stepson, and his experience was different because of how social kids are at that age, but our baby is just relaxing. He’s only been with us, and he loves it.”
Badgley and Kirke, who tied the knot in 2017, revealed they were expecting their first child together in February 2020, following previous miscarriages. Their rainbow baby, a son named James, was born that September.
Badgley smoothly transitioned into fatherhood after James’ arrival, having previously experienced parenting while bonding with Kirke’s eldest son, Cassius, from a prior relationship.
“He’s a really good stepdad,” the “Half Blood” singer shared exclusively with Us Weekly in October 2019 regarding Badgley. “He doesn’t need to fill the ‘dad’ role, so he gets to have more fun with him. It’s really great. The stepparent experience is definitely new for me, as I didn’t grow up with one, but … he takes excellent care of him.”
In February 2025, Kirke announced that she is expecting twins.
